She didn't make the BAFTA longlist. I was about to post that too. Disappointing. And probably kills any slim remaining chance she had at an Oscar nom. The British voting block is very important and big. Is French Exit eligible for Bafta? It's possible the movie is not.

Pfeiffer could also still get a Critics Choice nomination, since they have Comedy film categories too like the Globes do, but they are not anything special lol.

Didn't think Michelle would get a SAG nom sadly. Look on the bright side. It was not Zendaya or Andra Day and I don’t think the Academy willl go for Adams. She’s still in the race. I said the same thing about the Golden Globe and most people here were really pessimistic about it. So... Pfingers crossed! I do love your optimism!

I said the same thing about the Golden Globe and most people here were really pessimistic about it. So... Pfingers crossed! I do believe that the fifth slot is still open. The problem though is that a lot of people are vying for that fifth slot (Amy Adams, Andra Day, Sophia Loren, Zendaya, and Pfeiffer). One thing that I think could work for Pfeiffer is that she's the only one in the Comedy category, and she could build momentum if she wins the Globe (late February). Voting for the Oscars won't start until March, so a Globe win could give her a much needed push.

I wasn't expecting Michelle to get SAG, but of all the contenders to get the 5th slot, it was Amy Adams? I thought Hillbilly Elegy was panned, and the only salvaged buzz I heard of was for Glenn Close... Going from Globes-Critics Choice-Oscars is probably the best feasible path to a nomination for Michelle, if it happens... It could also be just the one Golden Globe nomination, which, wouldn't be too bad. It's better than nothing and it's good to know she got recognition.

Disappointing that SAG rewarded an Oscar bait performance from a bad movie. Adams is great but this was not her best work. I thought SAG voting committees were smarter than this.
An Oscar nom seems like a long shot now. Just hope SCP makes the film available to the voters and they embrace her performance even if the film isn't everyone's cuppa tea.

After watching Malcom & Marie, some awards pundits need to retire. Overhyping the film and Zendaya's performance. It's a steaming pile of crap. Insufferable and the Oscars won't touch it.

No Critic's Choice nomination. They suck but the Globe nom is probably the end of the road. Still better than nothing, though.

Ohh, the Critics Choice repeat and repeat all the same lists of nominations, pretty boring. And the Oscar follow this lists. i'm optimistic and I think she can't lose Golden Globe. If the Globe goes to Maria Bakalova, it will be an scandal. And I think they won't reward Maria if they have Michelle Pffeifer to reward. Meanwhile Scott(ie) Feinberg it's angry for the no nomination to Streep at the Globes and it's obsessed with Ben Affleck and wants a nomination for him and for Zendayaaa, ah, so funny

Pfeiffer's not in the Hollywood Reporter's roundtable. They have Close, Andra Day, Kirby, Mulligan, Winslet, and Zendaya. It would've been nice to see a Close-Pfeiffer reunion.

from LA Times. Now THIS is what I love to see. Her publicist should update this with a couple of the recent rave reviews. Whatever happens with Oscar, at least she's gotten universal critical acclaim and seems poised for better roles in the future.

From Variety:
"Watch out for a big surge if Michelle Pfeiffer (“French Exit”) manages to win the comedy Globe over Maria Bakalova (“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”). That could be a primetime surge with voting right around the corner and with three prior nominations, and no win, could a late groundswell form for her? Who knows in this strange year."
-------------
I also listened to the most recent Goldderby predictions panel, and both Tim Gray and Pete Hammond brought up Michelle's name as a possible spoiler. I think they said something about not too many people have seen this movie yet because of Sony's campaign strategy, which is seriously hurting Pfeiffer's chances.
Also, I think there are major critics who have not seen this movie yet. Only 16 reviews in Metacritic.

Would of been nice if Michelle had done one of these one on one interviews with SAG AFTRA or Gold Derby that so many actors do.

I read an article where an AMPAS member said voters are just checked out and many won't bother to vote this year. I think that's silly. But this whole thing is making me depressed. Career best reviews for this and Where is Kyra? and hardly anyone sees them. Just her luck.

Nomadland, Ma Rainey, Promising Young Woman, Pieces Of A Woman and other Oscar hopefuls are available on streaming platforms while FE is nowhere to be found.
Unless SCP sent screeners to Academy members, her performance will likely not be nominated because so few have actually seen the movie. Disappointed that SCP dropped the ball on this - or so it seems, anyway.

It's probably that SCP has sent screeners to Avademy Members. I think that, past year, they sent screeners of 'Pain and Glory'

Sony Classics did indeed send physical DVD screeners to Oscar voters as well as having it on their streaming site, so that's good.

I had no idea the Globes are this Sunday lol, feels weird. Here is Tom O'Neill at the 56:00 mark saying people who talk to Globes voters/insiders are saying watch out for Michelle, none of them said she'll win but they really like the film and think it's a big moment for her an I guess they were saying this even before the nominations were announced. I hope she can pull the upset: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn75l-mgH5k

What is even happening with the GG awards? Are the nominees going to be taking part at home like they did with Emmys?

Yes I believe the only people in person will be the hosts and presenters and a small amount of front line workers who were invited.
