A bit off topic, but why do think she wasn’t nominated for White Oleander? The Chicago effect? Yeah, only reason Latifah got nominated was Chicago was the Best Picture frontrunner and she coattailed. Also didn't help that Oleander had the feel of a Lifetime film to some and didn't do great at the box office.

Also, they tried to pull that tactic of passing Zeta-Jones off as a supporting when she was really a lead. Golden Globes thought so too...

I don’t believe you have to be in a huge hit to get nominated. So I’m going with the lifetime effort, the film was pretty lame and boring to me. At times her performance felt isolated!

Yeah, you're probably right, many thought it felt like a TV movie. Wasn't there an article or something that said the studio or director cut a ton of great scenes with Pfeiffer that would have secured an Oscar win for her? I remember reading something like that. I know WB used a deleted scene still of her for their little FYC ads where she is drugged up and de-glammed. Why the hell did they delete that scene? She has the worst luck.

It doesn't seem like she fights for those things. I'm banking on her going after a meaty tv drama next

Wasn't she mentioned as one of the hot names that TV producers and networks were trying to sign up a couple of years ago? It really is odd she hasn't done another HBO film or a Limited Series of some kind.

Reading David's interview with Hollywood Reporter this week, it sounds like Meryl has a great role in BLL2. Would of loved it had Michelle been given this role but I know they don't seem to want to work together. I really hope she has something else lined up for this fall after Maleficent.

I wish she would leave CAA. The fact that her agent also reps Streep, Moore, Kidman, Bening and other actresses close to her age doesn't help her. If she were at another agency, they could really fight for her to get these roles, but as it is, her agent likely feels he has to spread things out among them. She needs a bulldog agent to fight for her.

Bloody Meryl again. Every time we hear about a good film/role, it's always Meryl. I've often thought she should leave CAA too as she shares the same agent as Streep, Kidman, Bullock, Roberts amongst others.

I still say we should find projects which we think might be genuinely good for Michelle which haven't been cast n start tweeting/messaging the writers/producers/directors of them n explain why we think she should be cast

I doubt that would help, honestly. They'd probably just get annoyed, Lol. They should already have her in mind for these roles anyway. Her agent and management company should be putting her name out there for her. I mean I'm sure they are. I think Kyra, Wizard of Lies and mother! really spoiled us, because those were pretty daring roles that she has not really done before and we all want more, but they don't grow on trees.

I just wish Michelle would start looking for more leading or co leading roles rather than the supporting roles she always seems to play these days.

I'm confident we'll be seeing a change. I'd be a bit surprised if she didn't sign on to something this fall tbh. Sure, bad luck plagued two film projects back to back after The Family, but it showed she was willing to work again. When those n the series didn't happen, she signed up for last year's crop of films one right after the other. I'm confident that the days of dry spells r gone. David clearly isn't slowing down and w their move back to Los Angeles, the opportunity to land roles will be greater than ever.
I also hope that after Maleficent 2, she'll switch back to indie/mid-level studio comedy/dramas n give the blockbusters a break for a while. Truthfully, I want her to do both kinds. I love the straight drama side of Wizard, mother! n Kyra juxtaposed w the high entertainment-driven side of Murder, Ant-Man n Maleficent. Not many actors can flourish in such different projects n get good reviews for all of them. It's important she does both in a way...

After doing some reading about this, this actually sounds pretty damn boring and not that interesting. Probably The Post 2.0. And Netflix? Yawn.

I think this is who Streep is playing. I can see why they chose her:

Spielberg and DiCaprio seem to get attached to lots of projects so I don't see this happening anytime soon.

It’s a good sized role, well for a family film. She’s in theory the lead, but it’s the kids at the center of the story. The character is a modern day witch, who is the head witch of all the witches in England. They all convene at a hotel in the English seaside for their annual meeting where a little boy is also vacationing w his grandma. He overhears the head witch’s plan to turn all the children in the country into mice. She catches him and turns him into a mouse. He then sets off with another boy turned into a mouse to take the head witch and her fellow witches down

I want to see her next take on a leading drama role with someone like A24. I'd rather see her work with Robert again on something original.
