With Murder on the Orient Express coming to an end soon, what would you like to see next for Michelle?
I'm gonna say she'll most likely take a bit of time off now as MOTOE seemed like was a long shoot and she'll have Wizard of Lies to promote in May and then will most likely be getting ready for Mother! and MOTOE in the fall. Would be great if she could squeeze in a film in during the summer though,

I agree...a couple of months of work in the summertime wouldn't be unreasonable. Of course, we know our Michelle...she won't leave the house unless it's for a job that's going to give her something she feels is interesting to do.

I'm probably in the minority, but I 'd love to see her try the stage again. Twelfth Night was eons ago and I know she had a bad experience then.
Still, she would be wonderful in the right play, something contemporary, smart, edgy perhaps.
My thinking is she will take the rest of 2017 off unless something really special comes along.

I agree she will probably take a bit of a rest after filming so many things back to back. I feel like she will also probably look to do something "lighter". "Where is Kyra?" sounds dark and dreary, "Wizard of Lies", in terms of the story is pretty depressing, "mother!" sounds pretty dark. I hope she continues along this path, though. She is so much better at drama. I think she'll get even better offers after these films come out and other filmmakers are reminded of her talents. She used to be in the discussion of the "best of the best", but obviously time and her choices along the way hurt her standing, somewhat.

I agree with the rest of you. She'll most likely take the rest of the year off after (pretty much) four back to back productions. Still, I think she knows she'll have to strike while the iron is hot and might just sign on for something sooner than we all think.
Nice to be here, by the way. Glad the gang was able to stick together.

It probably makes sense for her to sit the rest of the year out. If she gets raves for her work in Wizard, mother! and MOTOE, she will stand to get much better offers, especially if one ore more of those is a huge critical or commercial hit. Her notices on Kyra alone should have raised her stock among indie producers and directors and I am betting she kills it as Ruth Madoff too. I wouldn't rule out a small distributor from grabbing Kyra at some point either, if this year's Best Actress field looks weak.

I was kind of hoping Pfeiffer would get the role of the mom in the new Amy Adams HBO limited series, but Patricia Clarkson was just announced for that role. Can't complain about Clarkson getting a good role, she's amazing.

Of course Meryl Streep was also announced for Spielberg's new film alongside Tom Hanks.

I wonder if her friend Steven talk with her about the female characters in his future projects and even if he ask her to be part of these... I can't imagine they will never work together. They are probably waiting for the good project

They are probably waiting for the good project I kind of think she doesn't want to work with him, only because they are very close friends and that might hurt the friendship. Hasn't she said something about that before?

Wonder if she will or will not be starring in Ant Man and the Wasp? Her name has been in the mix and it begins filming in July so don't think it'll too long until we hear either way.

I wonder if Michelle could end up having a role in Dumbo? Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito are joining the cast so could be a Batman Returns reunion.

Interesting - when I saw they were offering the main villain role in Dumbo to Michael Keaton, I thought, why not offer it to Michelle?

Who knows but with the Wizard of Lies promotion dying down, now would be an ideal time to start a new project before her busy fall promotion starts. I really hope Michelle will be going to Venice and Toronto this year.

OMG can't she just carve out a few weeks to shoot something?? Indie lead, studio supporting/ensemble, it doesn't matter. I just get really nervous when she doesn't have anything lined up, like another break is coming

I just get really nervous when she doesn't have anything lined up, like another break is coming LOL, I'm the same although given her recent comments about wanting to work now and also the fact her kids have left home doesn't make me feel quite as bad. MOTOE only wrapped in Feb and she may well not have anything else lined up this year but fingers crossed with mother!, MOTOE and Where is Kyra coming hopefully will put her back on people's radar.

I would not be surprised to see her get a plum TV role offer (movie or series/limited series) after that Variety interview. Just a few years ago I thought her career was dead, it was not looking good. But now, the possibilities seem endless.

Just a few years ago I thought her career was dead, it was not looking good. But now, the possibilities seem endless. Michelle has one of the most resilient careers from her generation (ie, actresses who became famous in the 80's). Considering how many times she took long breaks, it's really a testament to her that she's still relatively relevant. She may no longer be a box-office name, but she's still getting plum roles and getting paired with legends like De Niro.

^^^ Yes and then she has the whole Uptown Funk / Riptide thing that made millennials aware of her. She has a kind of mystique that can't be bought. I can't think of any other female star from the 80's with that kind of enduring profile. She has a lot of support and respect throughout the industry too, so yes, if she wants to work, I think the offers will be there for her now in films and television.

Looking forward to seeing what Michelle will be doing next. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long after Ant-Man. It would be good if she could film another project early next year.

I hope a great auteur has a great LEADING role for her soon. Edgar Wright, someone like that. Hell, even Aronofsky, he said recently he'd love to work with her again.
