I'm wondering if I should just buy a ticket for the virtual screening rather than try and apply for press credentials. The application is mammoth and I haven't even started on it yet lol

The application is mammoth and I haven't even started on it yet lol If I were you I'd do the press credentials. They just said there is a cap for tickets for the general public, the same amount of tickets for the virtual screening as there would be for a regular in person theater screening, meaning not that many tickets. I think the deadline to submit for press credentials is tomorrow.

Oh, nevermind then. I'm still covering this other festival in Canada remotely alongside other work stuff and screeners I'm watching for upcoming reviews and a couple of podcasts I'm on. I won't have time

Disappointing it's only for screening in USA. I wonder if we'll get a trailer before the screening next month?

I see that Pfeiffer had a dialect coach for this film. I find it odd she would need one for a NY accent, since she did it so well in Married to the Mob. But that was a long time ago lol. Or maybe it was for the French parts. It's the same coach who worked with her on Age of Innocence and Russia House.

I wonder if the coach is helping her get a New York society type of accent since the character is meant to have been from the upper class since she was born. Something similar to Age of Innocence

The NYFF programmers gave an interview and were asked which films they have seen recently that they love and they mention Nomadland and say McDormand gives an astonishing performance and the opening film but no mention of FE or Pfeiffer. Kind of surprising given how they gushed over it in the announcement., Ugh. I hope what they said in the announcement was not just festival hype and them trying to get people excited for their lineup....

Is it them who wrote up the announcement, I wonder...or someone else? I wonder if it was written up by someone who had seen French Exit and that's why they were gushing about it. On the other hand, if they're the programmers, they would have seen all the films, including French Exit. Maybe they're not the only programmers? Oh, whatever I'm gonna stop now before I make myself crazy!! Lol

It was the same two guys who gave quotes about the film and Pfeiffer's performance in the announcement.

Maybe just forgot to mention it. Best not to read too much in to these things. They have already spoken highly of her performance.

But I just feel like if it was truly great how could they forget to mention it lol. Good news is we don't have to wait much longer to get reactions to know for sure.

Hilda Rasula is doing the film editing. Her work include Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle, Damnation, Sorry for Your Loss. Strange cos Darrin Navarro was on the set. Unless they are both editing and he's not credited yet. Darrin is now listed as an Executive Producer.

Something tells me that members have probably already bought the majority of the tickets for FE and the other major titles. Hope I'm wrong!

Wouldn't be surprised either, actually. But still worth trying for. I'd love if one of us got in there and was able to give the group the low down on what the film is like.

Press screenings for NYFF start Sep. 14th. We might get some subtle tweets from critics or Letterboxd ratings. I'M SO NERVOUS, Lol.

Here is another person who has seemingly seen the film and calls it "wonderful". But I think he might be Susan Coyne's agent, so he probably shouldn't count, lol.

So here is someone who works at a production company in LA who says the script is "So so good". Of course scripts don't always lead to good movies, but yet more good word of mouth.

So this is NOT doing the London Film Festival but Nomadland and Ammonite are. Just find it odd. It's gotta have it's European premiere somewhere.

It would of been nice if this had played at more festivals. It might still end up at Sundance and possibly Berlin 2021.

NYFF must be a test in the studio’s eyes to see how big of a launch this movie should have and if it’s worth having a campaign for

I'm hopeful we will get at least a teaser poster soon for its NYFF premiere. Nomadland has released one and also a teaser trailer today and that comes out in December. Also SPC released a trailer for one of their hot documentaries toay that is also playing NYFF and all the other festivals too.
