It's also a good time to read or re-read French Exit for some....since most of society is staying indoors today lol

If Michelle is busy with the promotion of "French Exit" in the fall, it's entirely possible that she won't shoot anything this year and that her next project will be Ant-Man 3.

I don't want to get all sappy but it sure is nice to come here and post occasionally with all the craziness in the world right now. It makes social distancing a bit easier to handle. Yes, but I wish more people would post and engage. We have a lot of members signed up, but not many post.

I haven't read the book and don't plan to. I guess Michelle could film something in late summer/fall. Really not fussed about Ant Man 3.

Depressing thought, but you are probably correct. This is also potentially correct for a lot of actors and most players in the industry with upcoming projects. Still...maybe something for late summer?? I dunno....

Tho I'm not sure where the story could/should go. But whatever. I just hope they don't cut most of her out like they did before. Speaking of deleted scenes, I finally got around to watching the ones on Maleficent. I had only seen the first scene, which was an extended scene featuring Michelle and liked it better than the shortened version. The second one was called "Phillip and Aurora dance" so I automatically skipped it the first time, assuming Michelle wasn't even in it. I watched it finally and not only discovered that she was in it, but that even though she's largely silent during it, the scene really highlighted how truly formidable the character was

I wonder how close they were to finishing post-production and completing this film? Because I have to imagine that if they were indeed still in post, they were probably forced to stop working on it with everything that's going on. That could cause SPC to have to re-think the release date as well.
Who knows when movie theaters will even be able to re-open. Everything is up in the air. Studios are now canceling films that were poised to be released in July. It will be interesting to see what happens going forward.

Yeah, they're moving films that were in theaters to streaming platforms and upcoming theatrical films are going direct to streaming. And then they're delaying the superhero blockbusters so the whole theatrical release calendar is subject to change. AMC Theaters has publicly pleaded for financial relief from the government, so who knows when or if they will ever reopen? It's beyond belief.

Well they had a good head start of about 2 months (and some change) in post-production before society’s forced closure. Gotta just hope that was enough time for a film of this size. If not, gotta pray the makers can do as much work on their computers and equipment from home as possible...

Feels like just the beginning.

Meanwhile, did anyone see Michelle’s latest post?? Is it just me, or is she holding a script?? It’s hole punched like a script. If so, is it for Ant-Man 3, or something else? Oh whatever I’m probably just going crazy in my cooped up state lol

I'm guessing that December will no longer be the date for this, because I think the Oscars and other awards will be pushed back. Also, Sony(big Sony, not Classics) just moved all of their big summer films that were slated for 2020 to 2021 or TBD. It's going to be a mess whenever theaters are able to reopen.

The Oscars definitely should be pushed back to where they were before. This year's change of having them at the beginning of February rather than at the end felt weird and rushed. Didn't really dig it.

The Toronto International Film Festival directors said they are looking at doing an online/digital version of this years festival. That would kind of suck because if this film does get shown as part of their line-up, we wouldn't get to see her on the red carpet with Lucas or do the Q&A's, on the other hand, that might mean we'd be able to see the film online at the same time as critics and others who go to film festivals, for an online admission price, I'm sure, but that would be pretty cool if it's not too expensive.

Will be disappointing if this film didn't have any premieres and we saw nothing of Michelle and Lucas together. Hopefully things will have calmed down by the end of the year.

Sony Classics released a 15 minute reel from The Father, as well as a poster. That's not due out until November. I wish they'd give us something from French Exit, too. Sigh.

Maybe SPC are waiting to see how things pan out this year. They may want to hold off releasing it till things have gone back to normal. Could also be that FE requires a lot more Post Production than The Father. Think they had a fair amount of blue screen and they also have the cat element.

A week ago, I asked the director on his Instagram if they were still in post before all of the shutdowns started, today he replied they are still in post and are working on things remotely. I see someone else, Sara I think, asked if we could see a still from the film soon and he also replied to her that it's too early for that since they are still working on it.

It's definitely not too early for a still. A lot of productions can release a still of the film while production is still going on.

Telluride Film Festival just added an extra day to their festival (Sept. 3-7), so they at least feel confident that it will still take place. If so, let's hope this film screens there.
