I came across an article recently that said Close's overall chances of taking it all the way to the Oscars were starting to grow slim Her Gotham loss last night didn't mean much, but she also just lost National Board of Review today to Lady Gaga. I think she'll be fine because she's still getting a Globe, SAG and probably a lot of critics wins, but she's off to a slow start.

Cant even believe I watched that entire thing haha so boring!!! Mich lost AND Glenn lost wow wow wow I thought that Close would begin her sweep tonight, that was a little surprising. Sean Baker (director of The Florida Project) was one of the five jury members who voted for the winner of Best Actress. If he liked her performance, perhaps he will be inspired to cast her in one of his future films. So I just looked at this films Letterboxd for the first time in a while, and Sean Baker wrote a little review for it: letterboxd.com/lilfilm/film/where-is-kyra/"Didn't know anything about this film". Thanks a lot, Paladin. Great job.

Yes, Gaga is good but not the best acting of the year. And the movie it's ok, not a masterpiece. William Wellman version and George Cukor version are far better.
I think thay Sam Elliot it's Oscar Worthy.
And I hope that Sissy Spacek win her second Oscar for 'Old Man and the Gun', my favorite actress along Michelle Pffeifer

Oh my gosh, I put in the screener for Old Man and the Gun to watch with my dad when I was home recently and we both loved it. We had smiles on our faces the whole time. I could literally watch Redford and Sissy all day long!! They're both making my shortlist...as well as the film.
Elliott is too...he was fantastic in A Star is Born.

I liked it, too. It is sad that this is probably Redford's swan song and he won't get a final Oscar nomination for it.

The fact that she managed to get a Gotham nomination in a somewhat crowded field gives me hope that she could win a few critics awards. LAFCA has the tendency to give their Best Actress prize to a somewhat obscure movie. And NYFCC could appreciate New York-ness of the movie. The movie and her performance have that cool and snub factor that critics love to champion. She wouldn't need a big campaign if she manages to get those two critics awards. forget new york they gave it to another actress

I really like Regina Hall so I'm happy for her. There's so many deserving performances that go completely ignored every year, it's tough.

I still haven't checked that movie out. Supposed to be amazing! Btw, the other Regina (Regina King) is amazing in If Beale Street Could Talk. Glad she's getting some awards love.

Gotti, which has a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes has had FYC awards screeners sent out, the studio behind that film is tiny, yet Paladin can't send screeners for Where is Kyra? So ridiculous.

That IS ridiculous!! Gosh, I hope they send Green Book and First Man...couldn't make either of those screenings when they happened...same thing for The Front Runner!

Mick LaSalle thinks this film is one of the worst of the year. Give me a break. I've always questioned his taste.

LA Film Critics didn't bite either. These groups mostly just want to be Oscar predictors. It's so boring. This is one of the reasons the Oscar ratings are getting lower and lower, everyone knows who is going to win by the time the ceremony happens. It's lame.

But Roma maybe it's the film of the year? I'm anxious to see this film.
As for best actress, I desire Glen Close win, but her chances seem to be lower know. But I want her win as a career honorary award, alas Julianne Moore. Glen Close movie it's nor her best movie (as Julianne Moore movie).
