That is correct, the Gothams actually are a big deal in the independent film community and here in New York especially so being a nominee brings a fair share of attention to these individuals and the movies, so well done Ms Pfeiffer

The fact that she managed to get a Gotham nomination in a somewhat crowded field gives me hope that she could win a few critics awards. LAFCA has the tendency to give their Best Actress prize to a somewhat obscure movie. And NYFCC could appreciate New York-ness of the movie. The movie and her performance have that cool and snub factor that critics love to champion. She wouldn't need a big campaign if she manages to get those two critics awards. Can anyone remind me what is her last critics awards win? it is escaping me at the moment. Michelle hardly has any of these she is not a big awards magnet like others but hoping u r right, that would be great for her

I think it was for White Oleander. She got some ensemble noms for Hairspray, a truly nothing award for Personal Effects, that IndieWire 5th place for mother! (Does that even count?), and the critics’ choice nom for Wizard of Lies...tho, really White Oleander was the last one

Her last critics wins were from San Diego and Kansas City for White Oleander. Prior to that it was way back for The Fabulous Baker Boys, I believe, where she racked up LA and NYFCC wins.

Independent Spirit Nominations Novermber 16 Gothams will be November 26 please Michelle please goNew York Film Critics Circle winner November 29 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards winners December 9 If only they would release a confirmed guest list, so we could stop guessing if she's going to show up.... (I still don't think she will since Glenn Close is the likely winner).

Aint gonna get my hopes up for more just happy she got even one nom thats more then all of us expected haha I agree with this, but.....I'm still kind of holding out hope for more? Lol. Not Oscar, that's not going to happen, but Indie Spirits and some critics mentions. I just saw that Rhea Scott of Little Minx is a member of Film Independent, which does the Indie Spirit Awards. I hope she has been campaigning for the film and Pfeiffer to other members behind the scenes.

Nor for McCarthy or any of the actresses from The Favourite...guess the indie actress field is more crowded this year than I thought

Nor for McCarthy or any of the actresses from The Favourite...guess the indie actress field is more crowded this year than I thought The Favourite was only eligible for International Film, for some reason. It is weird that McCarthy missed both the GOTHAM's and the Indie Spirits, but her co-star Richard E. Grant made both.

It was an uphill battle anyway, seeing as how the film has no buzz whatsoever.

Curious about that person on Twitter saying that Michelle was submitted as a potential nominee at the Golden Globes...wondering how true that is.

Curious about that person on Twitter saying that Michelle was submitted as a potential nominee at the Golden Globes...wondering how true that is. I talked to them. They saw that Pfeiffer was an option to predict nominees on Gold Derby's awards prediction center game/challenge and took that to mean that the studio submitted it. I'm fairly certain that Gold Derby only adds actors and films to their prediction game based on buzz, reviews, if the film has a distributor, etc. Pfeiffer was likely on there because she got the Gotham nomination, therefore had a little buzz. Unless someone here wants to join their forum and ask them if they get confirmation of submission from a studio before they add a film or actor. It could very well be true that the studio submitted the film for consideration before the deadline in October, but there is no confirmation of that that I have seen.

I guess Sara was correct when she said they won't be sending screeners. Here is a list of all screeners sent so far, and it's getting fairly late in the game. It's just frustrating this film didn't get a better studio behind it. What exactly did Paladin do with that $10+ million they said they had for promotion? www.richiesolomon.com/screeners/Also, here is an interview with the person who helps run the Gotham Awards. So the jury of five who do the nominations are NOT the same people who then choose the winners, it's a whole new jury of five people (actors, directors, etc). I thought that was interesting. nofilmschool.com/2018/11/ifp-gotham-awards-milton-tabbot

Cant even believe I watched that entire thing haha so boring!!! Mich lost AND Glenn lost wow wow wow I thought that Close would begin her sweep tonight, that was a little surprising. Sean Baker (director of The Florida Project) was one of the five jury members who voted for the winner of Best Actress. If he liked her performance, perhaps he will be inspired to cast her in one of his future films.
