Since she has instagram she is confirming all her projects the same day they are published at the press, she posted about “French exit”, “Quantumania”, “First ladys”… but never said a word about “Turnd of mind”… She still didn’t say nothing about this, so don’t think this is confirmed, either “Megapolis” Yeah, probably too up in the air to say anything yet. I still feel like Turn of Mind was one of those projects that the agents use to say "hey look, my clients are in demand" even though they know that project will likely never happen. Huvane has done that a lot with Streep and Aniston for example.

Considering Michelle's recent THR interview and saying she plans to take the rest of the year off, it sounds like she might have only recently attached herself to this and maybe doesn't want to say anything yet. Maybe also she doesn't want to be one to start promoting everything she's doing work wise on social media.

I got emailed a press release about the film late Friday. I emailed the publicist back asking about potential filming dates and possible distribution plans. She responded by saying she didn't have those details yet but to keep an eye out for future announcements.

I always get nervous with these projects announced and taken to festivals. You never know when or if you're going to hear anything else.

I just realized Platt is also producing Wicked. Maybe he'd also want Pfeiffer for Madame Morrible in that? I really hope not though lol.

Annoyingly this seems to be one of the very few Cannes projects which doesn't give any indication to when filming is due to start.

I think this film will get made. Protagonist seem a decent production company and are already listing as in Pre Production. Wonder if this will go theatrical or get picked up by a streamer Netflix, Amazon? I dunno why, but I could totally see this as an Amazon project. It's a feeling I have based on absolutely nothing ha ha! I'd love if it went to A24, Focus, Searchlight or even SPC again if they did a better job than they did of French Exit. Netflix already have Nyad with Annette Bening and Leave the World Behind with Julia and Maestro with Bradley and Carey for next year it looks like. Amazon would be good too.

So we have officially entered her 'Grandmother' era. This sounds a little 'lifetime' to me... or worse... a repeat of 'People Like Us'.
If this does end up happening, I wonder what bland title they will end up giving it?

No, it doesn't sound like a lifetime film to me with the people involved behind the scenes and in demand screenwriter already involved in 2 big blockbusters this year making his directing debut.

Yea, looking at the producing team's body of work, they definitely don't seem like Lifetime type of ppl lol

The story sounds 'Lifetime'-esque to me. Not the people involved.
Although a first time director, mostly known for blockbuster productions in which he almost always receives co-writer credit is a little concerning. So yes, this does have a whiff of 'People Like Us' about it.

Well...just gotta trust the taste of everyone involved, especially since they're the ones who have the whole script and all we've got is a synopsis haha!
I'm sad that Admin couldn't find the script during their initial search, but oh well...

Yeah, anytime I see the words “heartwarming and inspiring” I take a step back but I’m hoping the writing and direction will have more bite than your typical Lifetime melodrama. I actually prefer the log line from the Variety article which emphasizes the dilemma Michelle’s character faces over how much to reveal to the kids. We’ll see. So much of this depends on the script and the execution. But I’m happy she has the lead role instead of you know who.

Wish we could swap Michelle and Julianne Moore's new announced project about. Sounds a great role for Julianne and would love to see Michelle work with someone like Lynn Ramsay.

Eh...Moore's choices have been hit and miss in recent years. Some good ones, but others that make me go: you thought THIS was worth saying yes to?! Dear Evan Hansen, Lisey's Story...oof!! I think the only one with spottier taste than her is Naomi Watts. Some of the stuff she picks I just can't with lol

It's difficult to judge without seeing the scripts. Some of the so-called hot packages announced at Cannes aren't so hot when the film is finished. A great pedigree does not guarantee a great film.

Hm. I would say that would seem to make SPC the most likely one to pick it up? Or not, who knows. We can rule out A24, it doesn't fit their style. I would love Searchlight. They are way better than SPC.

This is only the 3rd package at Cannes we have really heard about being bought. Both other projects were worldwide streaming pacakges. The fact it has sold out internationally must be a good sign for the project? SPC would be the most likely but why not maybe just Sony themselves for US domestic release or even Columbia Pictures or TriStar which are both Sony owned.

Watch it end up being someone like Roadside Attractions which end up getting US domestic release.

Oh, plz no!! LOL At least anything is better than the useless Paladin. Are they even still around anymore?
I think I'd like to add Focus Features to my wish list of potential distributors for this. Neon too. It might not be edgy enough for the latter, but their variety of titles always impresses me, so who knows?

Roadside wouldn't be the worst if they gave the film the attention they did with the likes of Judy, Manchester by the Sea or The Peanut Butter Falcon. They are definitely more miss than hit though but far greater than Paladin. Hopefully it's SPC, Searchlight or Focus.

True. Maybe I'm a little hard on them. Their slates and they way they've handled their titles has improved a bit in recent years.

Does it go to the highest bidder or the one the filmmakers have the most confidence in regarding distribution and promotion? Or maybe a combo of both? With it selling out in international markets, I would think the original investors have already recouped a substantial part of their investment.
