BTW, Gotham nominations are announced Nov 12, I think. Would be great if she got a somewhat surprising nom like she did in 2017.

Jennifer Hudson's film just got moved from January to August, so there's one down lol This is great! haha. Hudson is in the predictions of many, so this really helps Pfeiffer. I wonder though what's the reason for the sudden change especially since there's a lot of buzz already. Not awards friendly and more of a summer movie?

Would be great too if she gets included in the THR roundtable for Actresses. Not a guarantee that she gets nominated if she gets included in the roundtable. but that's like one of the most high profile campaign stops for any Oscar contender.

No matter what happens, it's exciting to see her name among the top five contenders. I don't know how much influence THR has with voters but I would think most of the industry reads it.

Agree - I've always wanted to see her take her place at that table and interact with her peers.

Yeah I hope she does the THR thing too. She's never done it before. Kate has done it a million times I think. Just say no to Kate, THR. Boring. If Pfeiffer doesn't do that one or the LA Times one, then I think that will tell us she's not going to bother to campaign.

I'm not sure what Clayton Davis is doing, but he moved Pfeiffer back up to #2 in his predictions, Lol.

He also has her #1 in his Golden Globes predictions. Not sure if he is hearing from SPC and her team that they are going to really push hard for her or if he is just personally pushing the narrative for her. Maybe both.

Who knows. I can definitely see her getting some GG love but not sure about Oscar. I really would love to see Michelle win a 2nd GG over another for Meryl Streep.

But I looked at the experts predictions at Goldderby since Hudson bowed out from the race, and many have put Pfeiffer in their predictions. I really feel that Hudson being out of the race is a huge boost for Pfeiffer. If Amy Adam's movie turned out to be awful, that would be an even better scenario.

I think Adams is a near lock, it's super baity for her and the kind of bad film AMPAS always rewards lol.
I think this is just Clayton trying to steer the narrative for her, which I'm not mad about, but having her that high is kinda nuts lol.

I think Sony it's pushing hard and I'm delighted. Not another Globe for Streep, please.

There are a few people saying The Prom is really good. Of course. Meryl has all the luck. Michelle has none.

Enough with Meryl, really, enough. Give Michelle the long overdue Oscar she deserves, please.

Ok. I read the article in The Wrap and I'm just going to come out and say it, as someone who'd been a fan of Pfeiffer since I was a kid: It would literally bring tears to my eyes if she got a Oscar nomination. She's such a fantastic actress and she's been overlooked so many times (The Age of Innocence, White Oleander just to name two great performances) and it's about time the Academy recognized that. - OK so I haven't actually seen the film (coughs), so this is based on the reviews she's getting for French Exit

While white oleander was a great movie, there's no way pfeiffer deserved an Oscar nomination, let's be objective. Pfeiffer hasn't been in an Oscar worthy film in years. Where is Kyra was too downbeat. She more or less has walk on parts nowadays. Let's hope French exit changes this.

WO was not a great film by any means but her performance was and she should have been nominated. Walk on parts? I’d agree that her screen time was criminally brief in the Marvel movies but she had a major role in Maleficent and substantial supporting roles in Orient Express, Wizard Of Lies and most of her other recent films. Although she came and went too fast in Mother, she tore into that role and made it count. She’s up against an ageist, sexist culture that caters to gamers, social media influencers and conspiracy theorists. Big studios are not producing films with great roles for older actresses and her best chances now are on television or in independent films like French Exit.

I'm opposite of you, WO was NOT great (not bad by any means either, just okay) but she was great and she should have competed for the win that year. It just flopped at the box office and seemed too much like a "Lifetime movie".

Nice! Even if I didn't love her performance, it's nice to see so many pundits go to bat for her.

Hillbilly Elegy also just flopped big time. Currently 39 at Metacritic with 21 critics. So maybe Amy Adams may not be a strong contender after all (but probably still among the possible nominees). I feel like once more reviews are added in Metacritic, French Exit would land at around the low 60's.

I was expecting a score in the 50s for Hillbilly, but this is way worse lol but of course Glenn is probably still getting nominated. I feel like this is probably better news for Loren than Pfeiffer though, Netflix will just put more effort into making Sophia happen now.
