Kinda confirms what we were suspecting, still, this is a huge disappointment. I really want to see them together in a film.

It's just weird with two big name actresses like that, and an interesting story, that they couldn't get it going. And it wasn't long ago that the screenwriter was hopeful they'd start filming. But maybe Rocket Science sold it or gave it to another company, who knows.

Probably a pointless comment and a sign of my inability to accept this - but why don't the producers shop this to a streaming platform? This would be ideal for HBO Now, Amazon, etc. IMO.

Maybe we'll be surprised and it's announced that's exactly what happened, they sold it to a streamer. Fingers crossed.

Interesting. Maybe Rocket Science just pulled out and they have to look for money elsewhere. I would think if Pfeiffer and Bening were still attached, they would have mentioned their names, but it is still on both of their IMDb pages.

Wouldn't be surprised if Michelle and Annette have dropped out of this now.

I just started reading the book. Not that impressed with it so far but I am only 50 pages in.
The character Michelle was set to play is 74 years old, ten year older than the Bening character. I found that odd but I suppose they can change that in the film.
This film may never happen but it's fun to read a book and picture Pfeiffer playing a character.

I bought the audio version on Audible and never really connected to it. Oh well.

This movie's status has gone from "Pre-Production" to "Announced."

Yeah I just saw this. I think this movie is dead.

At first glance I looked at it really fast and thought for a moment it had said "completed," which is silly lol I really wish they would just let this movie go already. I think it's more than time.

What a shame. I remember how excited we all were with the one-two punch of French Exit and Turn of Mind announcements last year. Two quirky, interesting projects with great co-stars. At least one of them happened.
To be honest though, this sounds like a greater loss for Benning (If it doesn't happen) than it does for Pfeiffer. Hopefully it won't be long before we see an announcement of a project that WILL be happening. Knowing our luck, it'll be ANT-MAN 3.

Yea I know what you mean. I wasn’t the most excited by this project but there was a small part of me that was looking forward to it regardless. The fact that it was a thriller, a co-lead with One of her contemporaries. Yea I guess my disappointment is minimal, but still there lol

From the Town and Country magazine
She’s not planning to stop soon. Once production can begin again in Hollywood, Pfeiffer is set to star in an Ant-Man sequel and opposite Annette Bening in the thriller Turn of Mind. She'll also portray former First Lady Betty Ford in a Showtime series directed by The Undoing's Susanne Bier. Beyond that? “I want to do more theater,” she says. “I’ve got too much on my plate at the moment, but that’s the thing I wish that I had been able to do more of.
Hopefully this means it is still happening.

Honestly, it’s probably a case of the interviewer just looking at her IMDb and assuming it’s happening, not actually asking her. I hope I’m wrong.

I just came here to post about this - and admin, I think you might be right, the reporter could have looked up her imdb page. But hopefully that's not the case and she's doing the movie.

How about that bit about her wanting to do more theatre? If she can work that out, that'd be pretty damn cool!

She took part in a production of Twelfth Night, with Jeff Goldblum, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Fisher Stevens and more celebs, in he eighties and if I remember correctly the production didn't get very good reviews. Maybe that's the reason she hasn't done more work in the theater?

She did not get good reviews in the role of Olivia and I've always felt that might have made her leery of returning to the stage.

Oh she got bad reviews? I thought the issue was she didn't like the director or something like that?

Personally, I don't think her personality fits theater. I would imagine she would be very anxious to perform live every night in a room full of people. Which is why I find it a little odd that as it turns out, she wants to do more theater.

Oh she got bad reviews? I thought the issue was she didn't like the director or something like that? The NY Times felt she had issues with voice projection and wasn't comfortable in the role whereas they praised Mastrantonio to skies for her performance as Viola. No one panned her but knowing how self-critical Michelle is, this may have made her think twice about treading the boards again. With the right role, a good director, and a great play - she could be dynamite on stage. Sign me up.

Annette just signed on for a lead role for a film slated to film in the summer. Another nail in this projects coffin most likely. Of course, they could get it started after that and Ant-Man wraps, but not holding my breath.

Same. Not holding my breath either. I'm not usually the pessimistic sort, but part of me is just waiting for this to fall off the iMDB page.
