I don't think anyone in LA or NY actually went to see this movie this weekend. Depressing.

Yea, I was wondering about that. How is it in New York, weather-wise? Fine, right? Not like here in Texas where stuff is shut down. So ppl could go see this film.
Gosh, the commitment to the theatrical experience really did them no favors, nor did the minimal promotion. I feel there was less than I had expected there to be. Am I wrong? Like I totally didn't see as many junket interviews as I thought there would be. Wonder if they're saving it all for the April 2 rollout?

An excellent read. Nice to see this swelling of support for Michelle and her talents.

The one thing I said earlier was I hope she is not relegated to the cover of Town and Country magazine if she can't get Vogue or another bigger magazine, and here we are lol. Some of these photos and clothes are terrible butI kind of like the suit. She also said she wants to do more theater

Yea, the suit definitely works! Not bad for a covid-era photo shoot lol

So according to Azazel this only played at 1 drive-in in the LA area and like 3 theaters in NY, but not even NYC, but suburb areas? And no VOD or streaming until after April? This makes no damn sense. They could have taken advantage of her Globe nom and struck a streaming/VOD deal with someone and the buzz would be higher since more people would actually see it. They really screwed up.

I agree. This is definitely a screwed up situation. I can’t believe how this was all handled

Ha. Brave of her to bring it up. Even more surprised that Michelle was aware of the review.

This quote makes me happy!! Also, I find her face so much more intriguing the older she gets. The wrinkles and the lines are really only adding to her physical wonder IMO.
"In general, by the time I commit to a character and a project, I’m also kind of addicted to whomever I’m playing. Frances certainly had me enthralled. When I was talking to her dead husband in a cat’s body, I was reminded of why I love my job."

I hate that headline they went with. It's a piece for an ACTING AWARDS CAMPAIGN and they choose that?? Lol.

Yea, that's not a good headline. If I was her, I'd be so unhappy with it lol

WTF? A parking garage? And they add that ridiculous headline? Sorry but this is a total bust.

This is already down to playing in just 2 theaters in NY state, no longer in LA. Just sad.

I can't believe how much press she is doing for this film.
Agree, a nice interview and while it may not be a guarantee, it's still nice to see Turn Of Mind get a mention.

Hopefully Turn of Mind is still happening. Maybe delayed due to Covid. Could possibly film in the fall/winter.

What a great review! I did an internship at Sight & Sound back in the day and read so many reviews that were pans. It’s so great to see the opposite for this movie. The critic totally reads this film in a very refreshing way!

So annoyed right now. They've just premiered The Father in cinemas in Iceland but no French Exit.

It'll have a limited run and then drop on home media quickly (perhaps even debuting on DVD for most international territories). The Father is their Oscar hopeful and French Exit is a failed experiment that needed a much stronger director to bring it into the big leagues.

Thought it was going to fall off the fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes but back up to 66%. Seems to have gotten mostly positive reviews from Australian critics.

Australian Box OfficeNo suprise this will play alot better in international markets. Now if only SPC would hurry up with the UK/Irish release.

Yea, they definitely embrace the unconventional more than stateside audiences and don't seem to mind it when films are free flowing and don't necessarily follow the point a, point b, point c structure.
