I started the book today after watching Sharp Objects with Amy Adams. Loving it so far but I don’t know enough about the Moore character to understand how important or interesting the part is. Seems prominent though. They could have played a bit with Michelle’s role in WLB. There are definite similarities between Claire and the Amy Adams character. It's somewhat like Girl on the Train, too, right? Just finished the book. No need to fret over this bit of casting. It’s a flashy role and an important one but not substantial. One major scene opposite the Adams character and a couple other brief ones. Some brief flashbacks too. Honestly, the part is too young for both of them and the character is more Moore than Pfeiffer. I don’t see this a missed opportunity unless they beefed up the role to attract a major name.

It has a lot references to classic suspense films which I love. Made it a fun read. The Adams character is a doozy. She will play the hell out of that character. It's her show all the way though. The rest, aside from two other characters, are mostly in and out. I hope the director does it right visually. It could be really stunning as the book is very cinematic.

I dunno man, I just don't ever see her being looked at as both a movie icon and a serious actress the way Michelle is by the general public. I need to watch The Fugitive again. I can't even remember her in it!! I remember Sela Ward...lol I was sooooooo upset with Non-Stop!! I wanted it to have the same kind of energy as something like Speed, but it just fell flat for me... My favorite review of The Forgotten was one which stated that Alfre Woodard's character feels like it was created only so that they could give her character a WTF exit!! Enough said ha ha I so agree bout her work in Dangerous Minds. That moment when the whole class is essentially waiting to her about Emilio's death, the look and body language as she sits at her desk is heartbreaking!! Pure Michelle!! Oh, I've got an entire wish list of roles she would have been perfect for, some of which she purposely she let pass her by. She's never been strategic about her career and its been both a blessing and a curse IMO I would like to see your list. So I actually took a couple of days to work in this (in between other stuff), but here is a comprehensive wish list of roles I wish would have come Michelle’s way and the actresses who got them. Some of the more famous titles such as Silence of the Lambs and Basic Instinct I left out cuz I felt that the actresses eventually cast proved to be the perfect choice in the end. Also, some of the more radical choices, I’ve put explanations as to why I felt Michelle should have gotten the part...and in some cases, obviously, the age of the leading man would have had to be adjusted...LOL Bening- The Face of Love, 20th Century Women Roberts- Conspiracy Theory, Closer, Charlie Wilson’s War, Larry Crowne, August: Osage County (with Fonda playing her mother in keeping with the play’s original age range) Streep- The River Wild, Adaptation., Lions for Lambs (I think she would have been more in line with what the writer had in mind in terms of an aging newswoman) Basinger- The Door in the Floor, Cellular (really would have loved to see her take on an action role), The Burning Plain Kidman- Malice, The Portrait of a Lady, Birth, Stoker (I wanna see her go that dark), Before I Go to Sleep, Genius, The Beguiled Bullock- Infamous, Murder by Numbers, The Lake House Paltrow- A Perfect Murder (this one SHOULD have been hers since she’s the modern-day Hitchcock blonde) Winslet- The Life of David Gale, Finding Neverland, Carnage, Steve Jobs (bit of a stretch, but why not?) Sarandon- Twilight Foster- Inside Man, The Beaver (As someone whose battled depression and has a father who has also battled it, I can’t help but relate to all of the characters), Elysium Davis- Hero, Accidents Happen, Marjorie Prime Lane- Hollywoodland (would have been perfect for her!!), Cinema Verite Stone- Sphere, The Mighty, Bobby Moore (Demi)- Disclosure, Passion of Mind (I actually liked this movie ha ha), Mr. Brooks (a great female cop heroine. Would love to see her in that kind of role), Flawless, The Joneses Ryan- Prelude to a Kiss, Hanging Up, In the Land of Women (Ryan’s best role would have been one Michelle could have knocked out easily) Hawn- Deceived Riseborough- Disconnect Garner- Wakefield (she doesn’t say a lot, but the role is still rich enough. Would have allowed Michelle’s physicality as an actress to soar) Leoni- Hollywood Ending, Spanglish, Ghost Town (just a sweet sweet movie) Russo- Outbreak, Get Shorty, The Thomas Crown Affair Griffith- Pacific Heights, The Bonfire of the Vanities (I would have had a ball seeing her play a southern airhead and I actually think the film is ok lol) Weisz- Youth (my favorite movie of 2015 and for her to play Caine’s daughter would have been a joy), Denial Zeta-Jones- Intolerable Cruelty (because, come on!), The Terminal, Side Effects (she would have played it more down the middle like it deserved) Tomei- The Paper, The Rewrite, Love the Coopers (a blah holiday movie, but the role is actually a sweet one) Winger- Black Widow, The Sheltering Sky, Forget Paris Hannah- Legal Eagles, Wall Street Hunter- Home for the Holidays, Living Out Loud Linney- The Nanny Diaries, The City of Your Final Destination, The Dinner Davis- Celebrity Blanchett- The Gift, Blue Jasmine, Cinderella, The House with a Clock in its Walls (ok, so this one hasn’t come out yet, but the book is a childhood fave!!) Swinton- Burn After Reading, A Bigger Splash Cotillard- Nine Diaz- The Counselor (she probably wouldn’t have done THAT scene, but what a great part!) Zellweger- Cinderella Man, My One and Only, Case 39 Wright- The Conspirator Keener- Death to Smoochy, Peace, Love and Misunderstanding, Where the Wild Things Are (I know it’s a brief mom role, but I’m such a lover of that film, that I wouldn’t have minded at all!) Gay-Harden- Rails & Ties McDowell- The Object of Beauty, Short Cuts, Unstrung Heroes Binoche- Clouds of Sils Maria, Words and Pictures, Bee Season Fonda- It Could Happen to You, A Simple Plan And finally… Moore (Julianne)- The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio (my favorite Moore film) Crazy, Stupid, Love. (throwaway but still woulda been worth it), Wonderstruck (exquisite and magical)

After checking this wish list of what other actresses did, I gonna say I'm really happy with the movies and characters Michelle did and which makes her the MICHELLE PFEIFFER we love. There's few roles I think Michelle could nail it easily but not necessary to do so though, like Cate Blanchett's "Blue Jasmine", I really like the style of Mike Nichols's "Closer", I hope Michelle could work on something like this, but not exactly the same role or the same movie.

Babyface, Thank you for taking the time to compile this list. I haven't seen many of the films / roles you included, but here some that stand out to me.
Agree 100% about the Paltrow role in A Perfect Murder. Michelle was much closer to the icy, unobtainable Grace Kelly prototype. Her presence would have elevated that film.
You didn't include the part Nicole Kidman played in The Others. I always felt Michelle would have been brilliant in that role, although Kidman was great. Portrait Of A Lady too - I agree w/ you on that one.
Same feeling you have about the Diane Lane character in Hollywoodland - I wish Michelle had been offered that part.
I can't think of any role that Kim Bassinger played that I wish Michelle had landed aside from the Veronica Lake character in LA Confidential. Yet, it actually wasn't all that great a role and I still don't understand why the Academy handed Basinger an Academy Award for it.
I liked Russo a lot in TTCA but Michelle could have walked away with that film without blinking an eye. But would she have appeared topless? Don't think so, not for that role. Then again, we should all be grateful she never starred opposite Pierce Brosnan in anything. Agree w/ you about Get Shorty too.
Griffith: Pacific Heights, yes. Bonfire Of The Vanities, no. Awful film a total bomb at the BO.
I would kill for MP to land a role as juicy as Blanchette's in Blue Jasmine but CB owned that part. One of the most searing performances in recent years.
Pfeiffer could have been brilliant as the wife in Nine but I'm glad she wasn't involved in that bomb.
The one Marcia Gay Harden role I wish Michelle had played was Celeste in Mystic River.
Same feeling about the Swinton role in Burn After Reading. I kept seeing MP in that part.
Among the Julianne Moore roles, the are three that I feel MP would have been great in - The End Of The Affair, Far From Heaven and The Hours.

(throwaway but still woulda been worth it), Wonderstruck (exquisite and magical) For Kidman, Pfeiffer would've been delicious in To Die For. For Russo, I could also see Pfeiffer being brilliant in Nightcrawler. Russo should've been Oscar-nominated for that one. For Zeta-Jones, for some reason, I could see Pfeiffer as Velma in Chicago. I bet she would've accepted this role in an instant had it been offered to her. For Moore, Still Alice would've also been a great role for Pfeiffer. And I agree with the Prizewinner of Defiance, don't know why that movie did not take off. And Crazy, Stupid, Love was a nice little role for Moore also, that telephone scene alone was worth it. After checking this wish list of what other actresses did, I gonna say I'm really happy with the movies and characters Michelle did and which makes her the MICHELLE PFEIFFER we love. Even though Blanchett was phenomenal, I could totally imagine Pfeiffer in this role even better. Missed opportunity. That's a funny, great and impressive liste ! Congratulations my friend ! I cannot imagine Pfeiffer in "Silence of the Lambs", I cannot imagine Pfeiffer in "The Accused", in "Contact", in "Nell". Especially in Contact and SOTL, I feel like those roles were made for Foster.

The one role over the last few years I have always pictured Pfeiffer in is the Darryl Hannah role in Kill Bill. That's not to say Darryl wasn't great, she was AMAZING, but Pfeiffer would have been incredible in that, too.

I think Michelle would have been more convincing as Clarice. As wonderful as Jodie was she has such strength on screen that you never think of her as an inexperienced, newly graduated FBI agent. Michelle would have brought that as well as the tough but vulnerable part that Jodie did so well. I would have liked Michelle to have done Evita, Lorenzo’s Oil and Sleepless in Seattle.

Ha ha no worries...it was fun to do during the down times at work...yet also kinda depressing looking at all the “coulda been” opportunities lol Missed opportunities imo: Jodie foster- flightplan, contact. Ashley Judd- double jeopardy Brian de palma's- femme fatale. Kim basinger - final analysis ( always felt she and Richard gere complemented each other in looks) the real McCoy ( only for what the role was supposed to be). Kristen Scott Thomas- the English patient, the horse whisperer, random hearts, only God forgives( this would have been dope). Julia Robert's- closer, mona lisa smiles Sandra Bullock- miss congeniality Cate Blanchett- veronica guerin Tilda Swinton- the deep end Joan Allen - the contender Moore - the end of an affair Naomi watts - fair game, mother and child. Rachel weisz- the constant gardener , the whistleblower, run away jury. Gena davis- a long kiss good night Rene Russo- the Thomas crown affair Paltrow - the perfect murder Genevieve bujold- coma Courtney love - empire

It depends on the size of the campaign tbh...if something interesting comes up, I'm sure she'll go for it since that's always gonna be more appealing to her than publicity. If it's something shooting in town, then even better probably since it'll give her the chance to do both campaign and shoot in the same location.

Missed opportunities imo: Jodie foster- flightplan, contact. Gena davis- a long kiss good night Rene Russo- the Thomas crown affair Paltrow - the perfect murder Genevieve bujold- coma Courtney love - empire Good list!! Forgot all about Femme Fatale...Final Analysis would have been interesting to see her do also. I also agree about Random Hearts...if only so that she'd have the chance to be in a Pollack film. Thanks man. If only I was her agent.

I'm starting to think dasadbd28 is correct when he guessed that Pfeiffer dropped out of Ben Is Back. It makes sense, Pfeiffer said she didn't "feel comfortable in that house". That film takes place in a home during a 24 hour span dealing with a drug/alcohol addicted son, and she and Julia Roberts share the same agent so it would be easy to just replace one with the other in projects. This film will debut at the Toronto Film Festival and Roberts is starting to get some Oscar talk for it.
Sigh.

I think she was talking about she's not comfortable with the people she may work with instead of "the house"? Oh don't bother, Julia or every famous actress will get some Oscar talks whenever they have a new drama out and it means nothing until the day really comes.

They still have yet to cast Marmee for the new Little Women. I bet that role will play a much smaller part in this new version or they're waiting for Metcalf or someone else....
