Lawrence sounds really great. So it sounds like that German synopsis was correct, {SPOILER! CLICK ME IF YOU DARE!}Pfeiffer and Harris are the uninvited guests and the Gleesons are the sons, something tragic happens (someone dies) then more people show up after that. My only worry is that Pfeiffer is gone after the first part/half of the movie. I really hope not.

I think Pfeiffer was there for the majority of the shoot. I remember Ed Harris saying at TCA at the end of July last year he had just finished filming and the film wrapped at the end of August.

CLICK ME IF YOU DARE!}if Pfeiffer and Harris are the guests and the sons do something which leads Lawrence to kick them out, that would be in the first part of the film. Of course her character could stick around, I'm just guessing how things might play out. Anyway, I'm really excited to see what the heck this film is about and how it plays out.

Has there ever been a film with a top director like Aronofsky and this kind of cast that has had this much secrecy around it?

I just remembered: {SPOILER! CLICK ME IF YOU DARE!}That leaked info said Pfeiffer plays a "Trump-like" religious character, right? She says "God help you" in the audio. Most of that leaked info seems to be true to this point. So excited for this.

Now, that's a teaser!!! That sounds really intense. I think this is the first time that I have a clearer idea of what this movie is going to be about, tone-wise. So exciting!!

So we finally heard the audio, but here is the video of the teaser that's been playing in theaters. Shot of Lawrence's eyes at the end. And "Seeing Is Believing" is the tagline.

Another German synopsis, a bit different than the other: {SPOILER! CLICK ME IF YOU DARE!}A poet (Javier Bardem) and his wife (Jennifer Lawrence) get a surprise visit to their Victorian country house: A stranger (Ed Harris) and a little later his wife (Michelle Pfeiffer) are at the door and are invited by the poet directly to move in. After the apparently unannounced appearance of the sons of the couple (Domhnall and Brian Gleeson), there is a violent argument in which one son kills the other. As bad as the deed is, the creative thrust that the poet receives: he writes a work that is to his greatest success - he wins a prestigious prize and a contest that helps him to cult status. But the artist's wife, meanwhile pregnant, is soon threatened by the fans. They are always more aggressive ...
-------------------------
This does not really line up with the leaked info from the other day that talked about the earth dying or world ending, but it totally makes sense after listening to the audio from the teaser....maybe a German fan just made up this synopsis after seeing the teaser? They did play it in German theaters....

Well, this is interesting. I just read on another forum that Ira Levin, who wrote 'Rosemary's Baby', also wrote a play/book called 'Veronica's Room'. It's rumored that mother! is in the same vein as 'Rosemary's Baby' and Lawrence's character in 'mother!' is named..Veronica. A Google search shows the Weinstein's were planning to adapt this play into a movie, and Variety says: "....leading to a nightmare cycle of guilt, sacrifice and murder." The official 'mother!' Facebook page says it's a " riveting psychological thriller about love, devotion and sacrifice." If you read up on 'Veronica's Room', it sounds terrifying, a true psychological thriller. It sounds like Aronofsky is borrowing from 'Rosemary' and 'Veronica's Room' and adding environmental messages to it. I'm going to buy a copy from Amazon.com or see if my local libraries have it on hand. I'm also going to re-watch 'Rosemary's Baby' tonight. I'm so excited for 'mother!'. www.goodreads.com/book/show/675303.Veronica_s_Roomvariety.com/2013/film/news/weinsteins-heading-to-veronicas-room-1200919598/

It sounds reasonable to think that Aronofsky has adapted the play and overlayed it with the supernatural elements similar to Rosemary's Baby. There is a definite correlation in theme going on there. But the story of the play doesn't match the synopsis of the film that was leaked - not exactly anyway - although the setting and the name of the central character do. I am wondering if Aranofsky took the premise of the play and added his own spin to it. If he retained the role reversals and plot twists and added a contemporary spin, this could be mind blowing. I am a huge Ira Levin fan and this scoop just adds to the excitement.

Sadly, my local libraries do not have the book/play, so I'll have to buy it from Amazon. I did re-watch 'Rosemary's Baby', though and it's still as good as I remember, however, the end was kind of corny, and there is some bad acting by one of the ladies in a smaller role. But still suspenseful and haunting overall. Ruth Gordon was a lot of fun and if Pfeiffer has a role like hers, but darker, I'll be more than happy. I'm not sure how Mia Farrow was not nominated for an Oscar. She was superb.
