all the news in Spain speak of loud and noisy booing after the movie ... 😮😔😔😔

I went to bed annoyed, and wake up to see that this has...a score of 86 on Metacritic!
Some pretty nice notices for Pfeiffer. Let me just say, if Lawrence somehow gets awards attention and an Oscar nomination for this and Pfeiffer doesn't, I'll be beyond irritated.

Yeah, I was surprised how many of you here were so negative. But I've read many positive reviews. So I got confused with the reaction from this board. And there are still pundits on Twitter who have seen the movie who's saying that Pfeiffer stole the movie and could get an Oscar nom. Pfeiffer's individual notices could've been stronger and more effusive, but I still think she's still in it. Especially if the movie is a success in the box office.

Well to be fair, it got loudly booed at the first press screening and it had a TON of negative tweet reactions so that's why I was so down on it. I'm very curious to see if the reactions and reviews differ at all in Toronto.

My lord, what a beauty. She completely outshines Lawrence who is 32 years her junior. Yes, it's worth noting that DOWNSIZING had almost polar opposite reactions at two different festivals. It ain't over yet.

Yeah, the Playlist review is phenomenal and the booing at the Venice premiere has been dismissed by some as people not understanding what Araonofsky is going for. What I am liking most is that no one can quite pin it down. It can be taken as a Biblical allegory, a put down of male ego driven artists, or a crazy riff on celebrity worship. I really need to see this movie. Like now.

where is everyone??? darren and jennifer praising michelle! LOVE this feature n how everyone is gushing bout her!! I also love how she acknowledges the role is a risk n a departure...overall this makes me confident that she's an important part of the film as a whole

Actually, a couple critics said there were as much applause as there were boos...one even said there was something of a battle of critics trying to outdo each other w clapping n booing

It seems even the reviews from critics who aren't madly in love w the film r mixed/positive. Nothing to be defeatist about. I do wish the reviews talked bout the performances a bit more than they do, but I guess the content n the imagery left such an impression, that it's kinda tough to focus on much else for them

all the news in Spain speak of loud and noisy booing after the movie ... 😮😔😔😔 Omg booing at a festival after a movie is over has become so cliche...it seems u aren't a "serious" critic unless u boo at something at its premiere. It's a trend that Ebert made famous when he booed The Brown Bunny at Cannes back in '03...its a move that's tired, old n needs to die.

Couldn't agree with you more, MichaelH. I'm so happy she did something that sounds edgy. And after watching the press conference I'm even more excited about seeing the film. Is it still available to watch somewhere??

Lord so is this movie good or not haha. Mich looks incredible!! but is that the same black dress she wore on Jimmy Fallon? Girl that's a sin in the fashion world haha no recycling! Hate reviews that dont mention Mich, like hello she is one of the main characters how do u mention Ed but not Mich? The neckline is different, so it's not the same dress...but it's similar enough to still be a sin ha ha

Is it still available to watch somewhere?? That idiot who said his question was for the best actress in the world referring to Jennifer made me quite angry. What a jerk.

Her dress at the premiere tonight has an Alexander McQueen look about it.

Apparently some media/photographers didn't know who Pfeiffer was at the premiere. Seriously. That was also the case from some autograph hounds at the New Year's Eve premiere...whatever. The important ppl (directors/producers/studio heads) know who she is LOL

Hmm, I can't really fault him...I mean I know he was probably was sucking up, but if I was in his place, I would refer to Michelle as "the best actress in the world," even if someone like Streep or Fonda were sitting at the same table as her...n I would have NO shame in doing so ha ha

Thanks, Roald.
I wonder if Pfeiffer will indeed go to Toronto? I think maybe she just went to Venice because it's the "World Premiere", the first event and official showing. If the reviews continue to be positive in Toronto, Pfeiffer might still be in the awards season race. Hopefully as someone else said, they start to praise her a bit more.

I love the little Catwoman nod in the Vanity Fair review. You can always count on Lodge to come through for Pfeiffer.

MICHELLLLLE ! BEAUTIFUL! I cant see all the reviews yet can someone tell me what most say about her? Well, some don't even mention her or really say nothing about her performance, which is annoying, but others said she's "marvelous", "delicious".

Her look kind of reminds me of the Dark Shadows premiere back in '12...maybe cuz both dresses had gold in them, but also cuz she looks just as gorgeous now as she did then

I think she is looking much better here than at the DARK SHADOWS premiere (better make-up for sure):
