Do any of you watch Stranger Things on Netflix? I saw someone tweet that in the new season that was just released they make reference to one of Pfeiffer's lines from Batman Returns. Just wondering if that's true, I have only seen one person mention it. I’ve seen Stranger Things... didn’t notice any reference. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ Weird. He must have been mistaken or just made it up. Oh well.

I was out of the country for a few weeks and I'm just catching up with BLL 2. Definitely feel the writing is weaker this season. Soap opera-ish with dialogue that may look clever on the page but sounds forced when spoken - even by actors who can act just about anything. But by Ep 4, it got better as the noose of guilt tightens around the necks of the Monterey 5. Streep is wonderful in a role that could have been a caricature, Kidman captures her character's conflicted and self-destructive nature perfectly, Witherspoon nails the narcissistic impulsivity of her character to the wall, Kravitz is tragically adrift and guilt-ridden, and Woodley is effective as the rape victim / mother who's doing her best to protect her son. But I think Dern is way over the top as Renata, chewing scenery like there' s no tomorrow. I find her exhausting to watch. I don't like how Streep's character is written. Some of the things she does just make no sense, Lol. I actually think Witherspoon has been the best out of the bunch on both seasons with Kidman right behind her.

Looks alright. Nothing special tho. I can see why she would have said yes, but I'm not bothered about her not doing it ultimately. I feel like she was originally signed on for Arquette's role.

It looks really bad to me. And that title - oy! So which part would Michelle have played? The Felicity Huffman or Patrician Arquette role?

I say Arquette. Huffman is dressed similar to how filmmakers sometimes try and dress Keaton in other films. Plus that twerking scene just screams Keaton.

I think you're correct about Pfeiffer and the Arquette role. This looks cliche and bland, which I hate to say because this seemed to have so much potential and there just aren't nearly enough roles for older women and it doesn't help when films like these are bad and will most likely flop.
Wasn't James Corden also supposed to be in this with Pfeiffer, Keaton and Davis? I don't know if I could have stomached that.

What I find most confusing is why it took them so long to realize there was a problem. This says Kelley only spent a small amount of time on set, but don't producers watch dailies anymore? The producers could have viewed each day's footage remotely while they were still filming to detect any noticeable discrepancies between the visual styles of the two directors. I wonder if they were up against a tight start date and signed her without thinking things through and / or communicating expectations? If I were Arnold, I'd be royally pissed. Maybe this was something that could be detected only through the editing process, but jeez, that was way too late to do anything proactive and spare the director humiliation.

I knew something wasn't right as we've not heard a word from Andrea. There's been no interviews with her and she was not at the premiere either. Very messy and it's a shame for her. They should of just waited for JMV to be available if he wanted creative control. DEK and Nicole are working with Susanne on The Undoing. Maybe they were trying to right their wrongs and with another female in charge of their show.

Michelle and David's decision to avoid working together makes even more sense in this context.

Michelle and David's decision to avoid working together makes even more sense in this context. Now I read that Arnold WAS aware that she would not have final cut. Don't think we have the full story, but even so, not a good look. I wonder if Kidman or Witherspoon will speak out? Kidman obviously doesn't have a big problem with David since they are working together again on a different project.

The new InStyle piece was released, but it's disappointing as she again talks about being an empty nester and how hard being famous is, which is fine, I guess. I just want something new and more interesting.

I watched it this morning before work and it was bad, yes. I watched it too, last night. It was a good concept and there were a couple of moments which actually worked. But it's not a funny movie. Most of the attempts at humor tend to fall flat before they eventually stop trying to be funny and stick to the blandness. But it's been 6 years, so who knows what original version of the script Michelle saw? My guess is that since all three actresses produced the movie, all three had a had in script changes with regards to their characters. The main reason I'm glad she walked away from this is because the character she would have played wouldn't have given her anything interesting to do, assuming she was meant for Arquette's role. That role is the only one of the three that is lacking in any color or flavor. If she had done it, I woulda wished she'd taken Huffman's role since that would have given her fresher territory to play around in. But anyhow, done and done!! lol

Yes! Love Stardust and it's one of her best performances. Shoulda been a big hit. I think the romantic leads killed it. Danes was weak IMO.
