Francis Coppola's Megalopolis - Could Michelle be joining?

Even if it doesn't end up being very good, which is kinda highly likely lol, it would be worth it for her to do. Working with him on what would be his final film(?) and the rest of those actors? She has to do it.

Here is a synopsis of this project, which has been in the works for a long time:

The star of this picture is Serge Catalane: a genius architect, controversial icon and lover of debauchery. His goal is to revolutionise the city, overhauling it to become a global and economic icon to the world. In doing so, he kicks ‘Cityworld’ to the curb – a conservative facelift for New York from Mayor Frank Cicero. The battle between two men begins, as Frank becomes determined to destroy Serge and Megalopolis. There are dirty politics, organised crime and evil big businesses that combine to try and take down Megalopolis.

I love that he's still kept this project alive all these years. It would be really interesting to see Michelle work with him if this came to light.

Would be great if it turned in to his final masterpiece. To see Michelle in this sort of ensemble is what we have been waiting for too.

With a cast of this caliber I'm really excited for this project.

Would also be fun to see Michelle and Jessica together in a project again.

“It's very simple,” he'll say. “The premise of Megalopolis? Well, it's basically… I would ask you a question, first of all: Do you know much about utopia?”

The best I can do, after literally hours talking about it with him, is this: It's a love story that is also a philosophical investigation of the nature of man; it's set in New York, but a New York steeped in echoes of ancient Rome; its scale and ambition are vast enough that Coppola has estimated that it will cost $120 million to make. What he dreams about, he said, is creating something like It's a Wonderful Life—a movie everyone goes to see, once a year, forever. “On New Year's, instead of talking about the fact that you're going to give up carbohydrates, I'd like this one question to be discussed, which is: Is the society we live in the only one available to us? And discuss it.”

“It's a love story,” Coppola said, trying again. “A woman is divided between loyalties to two men. But not only two men. Each man comes with a philosophical principle. One is her father who raised her, who taught her Latin on his lap and is devoted to a much more classical view of society, the Marcus Aurelius kind of view. The other one, who is the lover, is the enemy of the father but is dedicated to a much more progressive ‘Let's leap into the future, let's leap over all of this garbage that has contaminated humanity for 10,000 years. Let's find what we really are, which are an enlightened, friendly, joyous species.’ ”

Not really, according to the article. He says he has all the money for it, but I'm not gonna believe it until it actually starts filming.

Says filming will be Sept-Jan and Oscar has likely passed.

Sadly I think if this does happen this year and Michelle is involved it will be her next project we hear about.
