Interesting that Pfeiffer has top billing in this UK ad:

I like her look here. The dress, the shoes, the hair, and the makeup all work for me. I sort of agree about trying something different with her hair but what, exactly? I don't know if she could pull off a short bob like Sharon Stone or not.

Like I said, even Starz is doing more than Showtime

Matt Roush of TV Guide and Anne Thompson both still predicting Pfeiffer to get nominated and Tim Gray of Variety actually has her number 1, which hopefully isn't the kiss of death because he isn't a very good predictor lol.

Don't understand people who predict Viola and Gillian over Michelle.
I don't know why but I am thinking she will receive a nomination. Cut to 12th July and Michelle is snubbed.

I've seen some people say Gillian and Viola are bigger TV/Emmy names as the reasoning, which has some merit. But Pfeiffer is a big name and at least has 1 Emmy nom so it's not like she is some foreign name to voters.

I can realistically see her maybe being nominated, but I don't see her winning. Not with this much competition around her.

Yeah but I don't see the same handicap being placed on Amanda Seyfried who hasn't been nominated for an Emmy before. It always seems as if Pfeiffer has to overcome something to be included while others are welcomed to the party.

I know. I hate that so much! I feel its part of that "too pretty" Hollywood envy that's been attached to her in certain industry circles. I know she's got her admirers and supporters, but I'm sure there's the opposite of that around and some of them vote.

Ok so Michelle is nominated for her role as Betty Word and not a single word from Showtime.
Does anyone else than me think thats weird?
Or is this particular award maybe not considered high profile enough ...?

I finally managed to catch the show on Paramount + and enjoyed it quite a bit. There were definitely some flaws with the writing/pacing, but the storyline of each first lady was engaging and entertaining. Outside of Davis' weird decision to purse her lips to almost comical effect, I felt everyone was perfectly cast and produced stellar work.
Without a doubt, Pfeiffer was the star of this series. Her Betty Ford was charming, vulnerable, frenetic and entirely human. She embodied the former first lady and presented us with someone we could connect with, not a caricature we could recognize. If this was THE FIRST LADY: BETTY FORD, I have no doubt the raves would be overwhelming and an Emmy nomination all but secured. Sadly the writing/editing is simply not strong enough and she might get lost in the shuffle.
I'm not convinced this is a career best performance as some have said, but it still shows what an absolute powerhouse she is. I'm glad she agreed to this project all things considered.

Tbh, this snub doesn't hurt as bad as the White Oleander one. The Emmys are just silly with their stupid categories and fricking 8 nominees in some categories lol and awarding the same shows over and over and over. Whatever.

Or is this particular award maybe not considered high profile enough ...? It's a silly awards group. They had a ridiculous number of categories and number of nominees per category, so basically everyone got nominated. They also split the Limited Series into streaming or cable, so that made it easier for her to get nominated.

I think it would feel bitter sweet to see Michelle win an Emmy before an Oscar. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I've been traveling and just getting back to viewing the board but I was outraged when I heard the Emmy's passed her over. I don't know what they're thinking anymore. If ever someone deserved a lifetime / career nomination, it's Pfeiffer, and I say that in spite of believing nominations should be based strictly on the merits of the performance. Here, though, the performance stands on it own merits. Michelle aced the character and gave Ford layers that weren't in the script or easy to notice because of all the helter/skelter cutting back and forth. She had to overcome a lot to make Ford as touching and fully realized as the was in this piece. This snub really pisses me off. Sarah - ugh - Paulson? Gag me.
