Options for a nominations for best song and Pffeifer singing at the Oscars?
I don't think that screen time of Michelle being only 10 minutes.

{SPOILER! CLICK ME IF YOU DARE!}Yeah...well...we all know the story it's 12 ppl killing Depp on a train , she doesn't appear for the first 25 mins , then when they are on the train poirot investigates each of the 12 characters , they all get 10 mins , then Pfeiffer stands up at the end pulls off her blonde wig and tries to kill herself with a gun, she's good in all, they all are.

Garden: I have edited your post and put it in SPOILER tags. A lot of people have not yet seen it and don't know what happens and don't want to be spoiled. Please use spoiler tags when discussing the plot, thank you :-)

I love the arrangement too. Just a piano and a few strings and it builds slowly w/out overpowering her vocal. KB was wise to ask her to sing this. It reminds of her vocal on My Funny Valentine in the way she wrings all of the emotion out of the lyrics in a quiet, intimate way. So glad she accepted the challenge. Ha ha it's funny that u said that cuz it's actually reminding me of More Than You Know!! I'm glad she accepted too...no way Jolie coulda pulled this off ha ha Upload it to YouTube! I'm cheap, Lol.

Dunno if it's Oscar worthy, but it's definitely the kind of song that would feel at home there.
Oh man, I wish they could have made a music video for it much like the way the makers of a Christmas carol did for the song Kate winslet recorded for them...I think that one was an actual single for that movie's soundtrack though.

Came across a Twitter comment that said Michelle n Daisy Ridley were the two actresses in the cast with the most screen time

Such a sweet song, I love it. Michelle’s voice has a little bit changed since Hairspray. I would love to see a music video too... maybe it will arrive if the movie is a box office success. Anyway it is so cool to hear her sing again!

Interesting that since the last time they worked together on Dark Shadows there were no photos of Johnny and Michelle posing together at the premiere and even on Graham Norton they didn't kiss and Michelle seemed sit at a distance away from Johnny.

There are reports that Depp was drunk at the premiere. Not sure if this is accurate but sadly his personal life is a bit of a mess.

Lovely song, I think it's one of the best I've heard this year. I think that the score of Patrick Doyle it's very good, too. very english, very elegant and with themes.
This is from boxofficemojo, good news for the movie: Murder on the Orient Express already got a head start internationally this weekend, debuting in the UK with an estimated $6.45 million, topping the weekend chart and outperforming openings for the likes of The Great Gatsby, Gone Girl and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in the market.

Obviously they could still add it later... Aww boo!! I hope they do...mainly cuz I want them to send me a FYC screener for Murder lol Wont be surprised if this does indeed change, especially in the case of Greatest Showman; I mean that looks like such an Oscar hopeful studio movie in the tradition of Chicago n Moulin Rouge!

I noticed that too, the guy looked and sounded out of his mind , stoned, on Graham Norton show, she kinda looked uncomfortable next to him.

I actually really love the song. Her voice sounds beautiful, filled with emotion and pure feeling. I'd love to see it get a nod, but frankly I'm just glad I have another little song from Michelle to listen to.
Can't wait to see the film this week. Plus, I thought she was great on Graham Norton.
Also, I think this is the first time since maybe 'What Lies Beneath' that a film starring Michelle opened at No.1 here in the UK and Ireland.

God, Breitbart ran a piece about Pfeiffer's comments about abuse in Hollywood so now all the Trump supporters on Twitter are tweeting about it and how Hollywood is full of perverts, so I have to stop even looking for tweets about her for a while. They are so damn stupid. They overlook the fact that the president they support is a giant sexual abuser, too. So over it.

Just back from the film and I absolutely loved it. It's a slow burner, but builds to a really satisfying climax.
The whole cast is superb but the two stand-outs are Branagh and Pfeiffer. Perhaps I'm biased, but I think she has the best role outside of Poirot and leaves the biggest lasting impression. I've never read the novel or seen the original adaptation so this was a great treat.
Reviews will be harsher as this is the fourth time the book has been adapted, but is beautifully directed by Branagh and at least deserves some technical nominations.

Pfeiffer-Plan, Happy to read that you liked it. Here’s a brief press interview in which she talks about working w a 65mm steadicam and how many takes she prefers. I don’t know about anyone else, but I love to hear her talk about the acting process. This interviewer actually asks decent questions! collider.com/michelle-pfeiffer-willem-dafoe-interview-murder-on-the-orient-express/#imagesDid anyone else catch the interview where she talked about being mistaken for Kim Basinger? Hilarious.

So I'm back from having seen it...maybe it's just cuz I like the original so much, but this version felt so rushed to me. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's cuz I love the original so much so nevermind. The only real problem I had w it was the script. Since Michael Green wrote Logan and the new Blade Runner, I was expecting something really great, when what I got just felt like a really strong first draft. As much as there are scenes and lines that work, there are just as many which could have been better. In one of Michelle's scenes, I remember thinking: damn, why don't u have better things to say?!
That aside, this is a hugely entertaining movie. It's beautiful to look at. It's funny, yet it's got that surprise emotional pull to it...it is a crowd pleaser for sure. I just hope that the crowd turns up to be pleased LOL
As for Michelle, there's no question she has the best role apart from Branagh and is given the most to do here in terms of acting and character. Ridley would match her in terms of presence, but all of her scenes (most of them w Branagh) feel like retread, like she's doing the same thing over and over. Meanwhile, Michelle has a genuine arc and gets to be both funny and dramatic...its a good role for her as I knew it would be.
In terms of screen time, she enters the film around 15 min into it and is enough of a presence throughout to where u never forget her. I'd say altogether, the size of her role is a combination of New Year's Eve and People Like Us. If it still seems small, just remember that at least she isn't Dench or Cruz, neither of whom have ever been more wasted in their careers than they r here...

Are you going to seek out the original and compare Pfeiffer's performance with Bacall's? Did your audience like it and how was the reaction to the song?

I'd call some of them well-done and others...fun. The only bit of true silliness is in the beginning when they're introducing Poirot to the audience by showing him solving an earlier case

Well mine was press only and their plus ones n I didn't hear many comments going out cuz I stayed behind to hear the song. I did talk to a few critic friends after tho n of those 5 individuals, 1 thought it was ok (tho he prefers his detectives to be the rough, hard-drinking dark kind), 3 liked it well enough to recommend it n 1 REALLY wants to see it again.
From what I could gather sitting in the theater, ppl laughed when they were supposed to, typically. There are some inside Christie/Poirot references/jokes that only fans would get. By the end of it though, I could swear I heard some sniffling, which pleased me since Murder on the Orient Express actually ends up being a somewhat emotional story. Overall tho, unlike mother!, this is a film for a general audience I feel...n I really want to go on Thursday or Friday night to see it again with "normals," as my boss likes to call them n see their reaction...lol

Are you going to seek out the original and compare Pfeiffer's performance with Bacall's? Did your audience like it and how was the reaction to the song? I'll definitely check out the original soon. However I think I'll prefer Pfeiffer overall... Bacall always seemed very cold to me in most of her roles. We had a packed house (which is crazy on a Tuesday night), not one seat left. I distinctly heard a number of positive things being said about the film as people were leaving. Four young guys got up and left half way through the film. I guess there wasn't enough explosions. One of my friends loved it and was engrossed while the other one felt it was too slow and a little boring, but fine enough. They both loved Pfeiffer and couldn't believe it was her singing when I told them.

I may be one of the few who found Lumet’s version slow and overrated. It never lived up to the poster, the star names or the original source material IMO. One of the things that seems clear is that Branagh sped up the action, which I guess he felt he had to do to hold a digital audience’s attention, but this also reduced the characters to one dimensional stock figures. Did you feel that Michelle’s impact or performance were compromised in this regard?
