Of course, Janet gets her big role and its the 2nd MCU movie to go Rotten. Makes me want to dust off (pun intended) that fanfic I wrote where she survived Thanos's snap and had a bigger role in Endgame. That movie really seems to have been the apex of Marvel and it's gonna need another No Way Home soon if it wants to stave off fan fatigue... They do seem to be in a bit of a flop era currently. Interested to see if/when they bounce back.

I’ve seen those reviews who have been leaving her performance out entirely. I don’t wanna play the ageism/sexism card when it comes to those critics, but it’s kinda hard not to given how much of the movie she clearly dominates

Love this mention of her in the Austin-American Statesman: “Redesign the poster, renegotiate the billing, call Kevin Feige and have him rework the whole slate: This movie is Pfeiffer’s from top to bottom. The improbability of an “Ant-Man” franchise is made even more surreal by the presence of screen legends Pfeiffer and Douglas. But where Janet van Dyne has been a small (heh) presence in previous films, she’s a giant in this film. “ Quantumania” hinges on Janet’s three-decade exile outside of time and space, and it’s her arc and character relationships that drive the most satisfying parts of the plot. Fittingly, she feels like the co-lead here. No need to be entirely surprised — remember, Pfeiffer knows her way around a superhero movie (see “Batman Returns”). In “Quantumania,” Pfeiffer trades a bullwhip for space blasters and subatomic freedom fighting. She drips out exposition with steely, traumatized trepidation, and one of the film’s greatest joys is gradually discovering the legend that Janet’s built for herself in this strange world. One knife fight scene, in particular, will have you hoping for a Janet van Dyne trilogy next.” www.statesman.com/story/entertainment/arts/2023/02/16/ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania-review-paul-rudd-michelle-pfeiffer-jonathan-majors-kang-austin-tx/69902391007/

You know it's bad when even Marvel reddit doesn't love the movie lol. They really hate the ending too. Kathryn Newton is getting the worst of it though. They are ripping her performance to shreds.

Oh well, a lot of love for Michelle's performance on Twitter. I'll be seeing it some point this weekend.

Just watched it. It was fun enough, but wasn't all that bold. Michelle had a lot to do, which was great. As in, it seemed the other main 3, especially Douglas, had their screen time reduced in favor of her. Sort of SPOILER ALERT!!! that Janet doesn't die, so hopefully this means we'll get to see her play a progressively more important role worthy of her and Janet's name. Though not too much, of course, so we can see her in other stuff...

She was sidelined almost completely. But yeah, much more for Michelle to do this time and she was good.

I was meant to go see it this weekend but never got round to it . Think might just now wait until it's on Disney plus.

Just saw this. A solid performance from Michelle. She surerly stands out and so does Jonathan Majors. To my surprise I really enjoyed the movie. And after seeing abominations líka Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4 and Black Panther 2 I dont understand the hate this film is getting. Maybe it was hyped a bit too much? Anyway, Im really happy Michelle has so much sceeen time in this and its fun to see hér on the big screen since Malificent 2 was the last film with her to be shown in a cinema in Iceland.

Watched 2nd time tonight in IMAX and liked it much more than the first time, the visual looks much more stunning on the IMAX screen. All friends were surprised that Michelle got so much screen time and the movie was actually fun to watch when I don't compare this comics character with her other movies or performances.

I was pretty disappointed tbh.
Michelle did well, she was definitely a main character.
I hope thats it now. Before I saw the movie I didn't mind her doing more Marvel but now I very much hope thats it.

Yeah, Michelle and Jonathan, we're the stars of the film. I thought it was decent, I didn't hate it but agree it's time to move on.

Strange that Michelle didn't join the cast for the rest of promotions except the US premiere, even she has such a big part in the film.

I think she didn’t want to travel to New York which is where most (but not all) talk shows are filmed. I’m glad she did the junkets though.

As Marvel films go, this was mid-tier but I have only seen a handful to be honest. Happy to see Michelle in a major role and commanding more screen time. She was very good, I thought.
But I'm dying for her to play something on a more human scale now.

I was really disappointed - and I thought my expectations had been lowered by the reviews. I wasn’t expecting a ‘good’ film but I thought it would at least be a bit of fun. But I found it really dull. Oh well at least we have…. fk all to look forward to now

I know, it's depressing. Come on Michelle, time to get back to work. Preparing myself for the worst that Wild Four O'Clocks will be her next project if it is filming late 2023.

It'd be kind of odd if after giving her a very large presence this time, she did not appear in Kang Dynasty at all, so I am assuming she will be back for that at least.

I hope not, honestly. I enjoy Janet van Dyne and what Michelle does with her, and I loved the movie, but I want her to be done already. Whether she does another big budget movie, something indie, or something middle of the road, I just want something different next.

This will probably make a little over $200 in the US and might not even reach $500 million worldwide. A huge flop by MCU standards. I am happy to see something like Cocaine Bear doing so well, though. We need more of that.

Uh, wow. Majors arrested for assault, etc. And people on Twitter saying they've known about his behavior for a long time. I'm shocked, really. He just seems so nice. I hope they are wrong and he's being falsely accused, but...

Oh dear. I hope they are wrong too, otherwise his career would be over and we could be looking for a new Kang.

People are sick. ''Oh no, what's going to happen to phase 5 now? The MCU is more important than this!'' - A woman was ASSAULTED, and the police felt there was sufficient evidence to arrest him. The little spandex movies will survive a recast if it comes to it.
What has happened to common decency these days? I grew up in a house of domestic violence and let me tell you, if Majors is guilty, losing his little MCU gig should be the least of his worries.

This is just a good reminder that we should not put celebs on a pedestal. We can be fans obviously, but we really do not know how these people really are in their every day life.

Watched Quantumania on Disney last night for the 1st time as never got around to seeing it and thought might as well wait till it comes on Disney plus. It was nice to see Michelle get more screen time but I still wanted more. Her scenes with Jonathan were good, just sucks he has turned out to be another horror.
I wouldn't even be surprised if we never got another Ant Man with how Quantumania has performed at the Box Office. Not even crossed 500m WW.

I’m fine with that. She put in some quality time as that character, showed she can co-lead a Marvel movie and get good reviews even if the movie didn’t. It’s time to put Janet Van Dyne to bed and move on to the next one.

We definitely won't be getting an Ant-Man 4 - Bob Iger made that clear with his recent comments about sequels to certain properties.
I still think Feige might want to use Pfeiffer again, but when and how is a mystery. However, I won't be too upset if this the last we have seen of Janet Van Dyne.
