Finally a new project and not what we were expecting. Exciting to see her work with Michael Showalter.

Looking forward to finding out who'll be co-starring with her in this.

If it's a Christmas film and not filming until Summer, I imagine, we'll have to wait until Christmas 2025 which is a bit of a bummer.

I was thinking the same thing. His 2022 film, Spoiler Alert, was also mostly a holiday-themed film and he started filming that the year before in the autumn of 2021, so I could see a bit of a wait for this one, unless they’re done filming by maybe July. But that’s a bit of a stretch

The short story is available for free on Amazon and audible (with subscriptions, of course) if anyone is interested.

I do love that we had Yellowstone and Sylvia on our minds and then something comes out of left field to surprise us. Showalter is good. Could be a chance for a comedy golden globe for her and yay, a leading role.
Sort of sounds like Home Alone meets Where'd You Go, Bernadette

She confirmed it on her Instagram stories, so looks like it's definitely happening.

She confirmed it on her Instagram stories, so looks like it's definitely happening. That was fast and this just came out of nowhere lol. Those Yellowstone rumors must have been BS? Maybe she'll jump right into Sylvia after this? So this holiday movie comedy/drama(?), Wild Four O'Clocks and Sylvia's Next Act sure show she is in a lighter mood.

This one sounds like prime golden globes material. Wow, imagine if this and Sylvia were both globes-worthy performances like Streep had with Julie & Julia and It’s Complicated back in 2009!!
In an ideal world, we’d get 3 Michelle movies in 2025 with Wild Four O’ Clocks, Sylvia’s Second Act, and Oh. What. Fun. Realistically, we’ll maybe get 2, but today’s news says to me that we’ll at least get one.
I would LOVE if we’d get one of these in 2024, but as a pfan, I’ll take what I can get

I am just now realizing the title is part of "oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh" lol and her last name in the movie is a play on Claus. Now I'm not sure how to feel lol, kind of sounds like a Hallmark movie.

I trust Showalter, but yea, I’m hoping we don’t get any of that hallmark nonsense lol
I’m planning on reading the short story at some point. Hopefully that’ll provide some clarification on the tone of it.

I hope we haven't entered the funny Grandma phase.
Always a rush whenever we get a Michelle casting alert - just hoping the direction, writing, etc. elevate this beyond the tagline.
At least, this appears to be firm w/ cameras set to roll this summer.

I don't think we can rule out the Yellowstone rumors just yet. That Puck seems to have insider knowledge. Maybe Michelle is starting on that after this. Guess we'll need to wait and see. I'm just glad we finally have a new project announcement.

It does sound quite Hallmark but I have faith in Showalter. It does also have a decent set of producers behind it. Looking forward to seeing who else is cast.
Wonder with Tribeca films being attached if this will be shooting in NY?

If this were on Netflix, I’d be worried since their Christmas movies definitely skew more Hallmark territory. I think the fact that is gonna be under the MGM branch of Amazon prime (along with Showalter’s previous track record), we can hopefully avoid any kind of hallmark schmaltz.
I’m excited for the comedy aspect of this since Showalter knows what makes a good laugh, but he also has a knack for telling human stories that don’t feel phony.
If anyone hasn’t before, I suggest checking out some of his following films:
Hello, My Name is Doris The Big Sick Spoiler Alert

Ripping off the bandaid and listening to the short story for this since the audio version is only an hour long

Yes, but I think it’s mostly the way it was told. First off, it doesn’t feel right for a short story because so much happens that we don’t see. It just jumps from beginning to end with a little bit in the middle. This really woulda worked better as a novel. Second, it’s mostly told from the POV of the middle son, who comes across as kind of a jerk and a bit whiny. When the mom character does speak, she seems like something of a birdbrain. There’s also a twist in here that I just didn’t care for AT ALL and served no purpose whatsoever.
Showalter must’ve done some major expanding and retooling on the story when he adapted it into script form cuz the short story as written DOES NOT seem like something Michelle would say yes to.
I’m only one opinion though. Others should listen and see what they think. The audio version is less than an hour and a half long.

I got absolutely nothing from it. It said it was a comedy, right lol I hope the ‘home alone’ bit is just a jumping off point for something completely different. Jeez, I’d much prefer the Yellowstone spin off to this shit lol *sigh*

I started listening to this on Audible last night and...I was bored out of my mind. I'll give it another try this weekend, but what I did hear, was not that impressive. The script is likely way better.

Yea, I’ve got confidence that the script Showalter was able to conjure up from this is way better.

Good for Pfeiffer booking another lead role. Now let’s see wait and see if it’s a good choice. Looking forward to seeing it.

Michael Showalter's Idea of You just closed the SXSW festival. I can't see this being ready for that next year if it's not shooting until summer but maybe it'll get it's Premiere at one of next year's fall festivals like Toronto?

Yea, realistically, I’m thinking we won’t see this until late 2025. But I’m okay with that. Waiting for a finished movie to be released is FAR easier than waiting for an announcement of ANY new project!!

I thought Dominic might be in this as saw the author had started following him on Instagram.
Production due to start end of next month in Atlanta.
