I still hope 'Turn of Mind' gets started in the New Year, when Benning finishes 'Death on the Nile'.

I really hope Turn of Mind is next. Can't wait to see Michelle in another thriller.
Nicole Kidman revealed Nine Perfect Strangers starts production in spring. Could Michelle play Frances? In the book the character is early 50s but sure David could change the character's age. In saying that though it's probably not likely as David and Michelle never work together.

guys .... Pedro Almodovar will shoot his first american movie! fingers crossed? That would be a dream come true. Do you know any specifics about the project? Almodovar told the associated press that the film is based on five stories by an American writer. the protagonists are women who live between Texas and Mexico. the well-informed say that the author of the book is Annie Proulx (brokeback mountain)

Robert Eggers has just announced his next film with an impressive cast. Nicole Kidman is to play Alexander Skargard's mother. Would love to see have seen Michelle get this as she's more age appropriate and would love to see her working with someone like Eggers.

Wait, the same Alexander Skargard that just played her husband on BLL? Lol. Weird.

Where on earth does Nicole Kidman find the time? I'd like to express a critical reflection on the work choices of our beloved Michelle ... who ever thought that something good would come out from a director like Ronning? and let's be honest ... who expects something really good from a director like Raff Gideon (are we kidding who is? what important movie he made?) ... and we want to talk about Azazel Jacobs? (.... yes ok, he is a director on the rise, but he still has to try what he is worth ... and I have some doubts having watched his entire filmography) ... the truth is that the splendid and talented Michelle could have anyone she wanted for her projects but unfortunately often makes wrong choices ... she should take examples from intelligent colleagues like Moore, Kidman, Streep who are looking for very important directors, authors who know how to exploit them in the best way. this is the right way. Even michelle in the past has been exalted by great film-makers (Frears, Burton, Scorsese, Aronofsky, De Palma, Demme, Nichols, Zemeckis) and should continue on this path and not accept in useless productions. I think that Michelle is the greatest American actress with an extraordinary natural talent but a very bad ability in selecting the right movies, I'm sorry to admite it but I have the sad doubt that she doesn't have the sensibility or the intelligence or the refinement to make the right choices .... and this despite have a writer like Kelley at his side .... who evidently doesn't advise her in the right way ... the debate is open ...what do you think?

Just my opinion but yea Mich made some bad choices in the 1990's but nothing she can do about it now I really think Mich is making better choices now she woulda been nuts to turn down Wizard of Lies and Where is Kyra and Mother! those were good choices in my opinion and Orient express was a box office smash and it was smart to do a Marvel movie. Even if French Exit isnt even made yet its a leading part for her and sounds good on paper sometimes things dont work out even if they sound good

Yeah, she's made some bad choices in the late 90's but many were also out of her control and just seemed to be pure bad luck. A Thousand Acres was supposed to be a prestige project that turned out to be a dud. I remember "The Story of Us" getting the pre-release overdue Oscar narrative for Pfeiffer, until the movie turned out to be a dud again. Same thing happened with "The Deep End of the Ocean".
That said, the trifecta of mother!, Wizard of Lies, and Where is Kyra? tells me that she has become a lot bolder with her choices. I am most impressed by her choice to be on mother!, even though that movie kinda flopped.

I also agree that most of her movies in the 90s are not great movies, but I also love the connection between her and her characters, that's what makes her being different than other actresses, I think she always put her own interest first when choosing projects instead of the market/awards prospect, yes, she lost a lot of good opportunities to be in some better films but she also gave us a lot of lovely film characters. And her choice since year 2017 are so good, I rewatched "Where is Kyra?" just few days ago with a friend (not a Pfans, not really know much about her either) and he also quite likes it. Can't wait to see "French Exit".

It's certainly fair to question her choices years ago. I don't mind or blame her for passing on Silence of the Lambs and to be honest, I can't really see her as a good fit in that role anyway, not because she's so attractive or anything. I don't know, it just never seemed like a good fit in my mind. After The Age of Innocence though, I have no idea what happened. She went in a completely different direction, away from prestige films. What kills me the most is, in that time period, she was one of the biggest stars in the world and she could have done anything she wanted, basically. She was in her prime, but it just kind of went south a little bit after 1993. During more recent times, I'm not sure it is really fair to criticize her moves. Hollywood is not kind to most actresses as they age. Just not enough roles to go around. We should also remember, she is so beautiful and folks still think she is "too pretty" for certain roles, so they probably don't even consider her at all. Certainly not her fault. Streep gets all of these roles because years ago she was pegged as the "greatest living actress" (which is absurd) and she can do no wrong in most people's eyes, so to this day she can have whatever role or project she wants. The rest of the ladies have to get really lucky or fight like hell for certain roles or they have to go out and produce and create roles for themselves. I agree with what was posted above, her very recent choices have all been very good, even if 'mother!' was a disappointment. These have been very good roles for her that have allowed her to do some of her best work ever. Even going back to 2007, Hairspray and Stardust were great roles and Hairspray was a great film and made a lot of money. I remember from 2003 to 2006 or so, it seemed like hell, like we'd never see her work consistently ever again and it was very depressing. What we are seeing now, I never would have imagined back then. Let's cross our fingers for 'French Exit' and see what happens after that.

She always admitted she never had great commerical taste when it comes to picking roles, rather picking what she is most comfortable/passionate with.
I hate to say it, but it's clear that since becoming a mother/getting married she seemingly lost a true sense of drive and ambition in her career. She obviously loves acting and wants to work with great, interesting people, but she just doesn't seem to chase Oscar glory, Box Office accolades or even PUSHING herself to the front of the line when it comes to casting.
It's frustrating for Pfans, but it's given her a healthy work/life balance and it's remarkable that her talent still resonates so strongly within the industry to this day.
Make no mistake, if she was as desperate as some actresses out there, there'd be no stopping her.

Argh, hate when that happens!! LOL Anyhow, what I meant to say: I think one of the things that happened after Age of Innocence was the fact that her production company started taking off and we got stuff like Dangerous Minds, One Fine Day, etc...

Paul Thomas Anderson has a new project, set once again in California. I wish he would cast her sometime, he's a HUGE fan of Married to the Mob, too.

I heard about something being written specifically with Michelle in mind. It's a psychological horror story about satanic families in the vein of Rosemary's Baby. She would play a matriarch who is steeped in sleaze and corruption. A bit disturbing. It's all very early stages but could be interesting I guess.

All I know is the writer is a Michelle fan and he is writing the part for her but it's not happening anytime soon. Unfortunately it's not a lead role but it could be a juicy supporting one if it gets made. It seems to me the story could be quite controversial from what I heard so I don't know if Michelle would sign on for something like this but after Mother who knows ?

Still I will try to tell this writer to work on something with a lead role for an actress in her sixties. Preferably a drama.
