Yea, I wouldn’t blame her either. I’m going home this weekend to visit family for the first time and I’m getting a little nervous about it myself.
I feel a lot of the industry is still feeling unsure. We had an impromptu meeting of the Austin film critics assoc and we decided that even tho theaters are opening up, most of us still aren’t ready to return to a movie theater for press screenings and will still prefer screening links to review. I mean, with all the surges recently, it’s hard to feel confident

If I was an actor, you wouldn't get me anywhere near a red carpet/press interviews for a long time. It's all still too unpredictable and nothing is more important than your health.

NICE. The great thing about this is, GoldDerby is in the know, they are in contact with studios about release dates and buzz all the time. Still trying to keep my expectations in check though lol.

Toronto announced today that it will only screen 50 feature films at this years festival, down from 300 and they will have physical, socially-distanced screenings for the first 5 days only. I hope Azazel Jacobs is close to being done.
The new Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan film was one of a few they announced as part of the lineup today.

I'm also keeping my expectations in check with this as we've been burnt so many times before. Praying it's success for Michelle though.

Wouldn't take GoldDerby as the gospel truth. They also have Nightmare Alley showing as coming out in this fall. That film hasn't even finished filming yet and will no way be ready for this fall.

I noticed that too. Also list Nomadland as Fall and I don't think anyone else has mentioned that, I don't even think that one is finished either. They are usually dialed in, so maybe they have heard some things, who knows.

With cases spiking again pretty much everywhere and in such big metro areas, especially LA, I don't see theaters actually reopening anytime soon, no matter what they say. I think we'll just see a lot of films like this go to streaming or wait until next year.

Oh, wow!! I love it!! What a great still!! The lighting looks good and it doesn’t look like they went with the kind of indie look/vibe that the director’s last movie had. This is in line with what I was hoping this would be. Hope to see more of the same!!

Do we think that's a real cat or CGI? It looks real to me.

It looks real. Well, at least, real enough. But he is leaning a bit weird lol

Uh, Azazel Jacobs just replied to me on Instagram and said they're still "deep in post" and doesn't know when it's coming out, Lol. Ugh.

Aww, boo. Well, releasing this pic is a good sign. It shows he’s making progress and the he and the studio are satisfied enough with where they’re at with the film. Good news, even if the release date is still up in the air

They still have time. It's only July and probably helps with the awards window being pushed back. Fingers crossed this works out.

Yeah after thinking about it, probably not a big deal in terms of his comment. No one really knows when or if theaters will be back open. Just impossible to say.

There is a little bit better quality version of the still on its IMDB page, looks like the cat might be CGI, or at least its mouth area, looks kind of strange, but the rest looks real, to me.

Danielle MacDonald's recent interview with Deadline.
DEADLINE: Can you tell us anything about your French Exit character?
MACDONALD: I’m not entirely sure how much I’m allowed to say, but it was a fun role for me to get to come in and play. It was a lot of fun to do and Michelle and Lucas are incredible.

Venice will unveil its lineup July 28th. I think we can probably rule this film out for that festival. Hopefully it does Telluride.

I admire her work as an actress and I like what she posts on social media too. Her comments are encouraging. LOVE the still photo of Michelle and Lucas. It seems right out of the book - their look, mood, the cat. I hope this one works.

Hope Michelle posts the still on her Instagram. It's a little weird she hasn't yet. You know her management team sent it to her. Maybe just busy moving into her new home? DailyMail reported they were moving in furniture recently.

So they are not sure if this will do any festivals due to COVID, pretty much what we all figured to be the case. Even though the festivals say they are going forward for now.

If they do, it’ll be virtual festivals. I keep getting emails about yet another festival that’s going virtual because of Covid-19

Telluride just cancelled the film fest this year. Damn it. I would not be shocked to see SPC delay FE until 2021. It needs as many festival screenings as possible.

Really nothing new or surprising but there's really nothing else going on right now...Anne Thompson of IndieWire wrote a piece today and said distributors like Sony Classics have not yet begun to even plan any campaigns for their films and have no idea what they are going to do because of Covid. Some might be looking at Sundance in January.
