Never heard Laura say anything about Mich or the other nominees, guess I missed it? I know she didnt at the Emmys cuz it bothered me at that time haha. But yea sometimes its not about the persons performance more about the movie over all and if people like that person and all that She gave the standard "it's an honor to be included among my fellow nominees" spiel at the start of her Globes speech. She did it during a backstage interview at the Emmys. It's typical for winners to do that, but I'd like to believe she's being sincere in this case. As far as I'm concerned, she won over Mich by a hair. I just watched the clip of Laura Dern winning the Critics Choice Award and she mentioned Pfeiffer and the other nominees in her category by name. She's a very classy lady. But I hated watching her win, Lol.

LA Times film critic Justin Chang, one of the best film critics in the US, has Pfeiffer in his personal Top 5 for Supporting Actress. If only his group had awarded Pfeiffer at least a "runner-up" mention at the LA Film Critics Circle Awards: www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-ca-mn-oscar-ballot-chang-20180119-story.html"If our film critic picked the Oscar nominees ..." SUPPORTING ACTRESS Tiffany Haddish, “Girls Trip” Holly Hunter, “The Big Sick” Lesley Manville, “Phantom Thread” Laurie Metcalf, “Lady Bird” Michelle Pfeiffer, “mother!”

Luckily, the Razzies saw sense and left Michelle off the 'Worst Supporting Actress' list for MOTHER!. However, they weren't quite so kind to Lawrence, Bardem and Aronofsky. Worst Actress - Jennifer Lawrence Worst Supporting Actor - Javier Bardem Worst Director - Darren Aronofsky www.digitalspy.com/movies/transformers/news/a848063/razzies-2018-nominations-full-list-jennifer-lawrence-transformers/I think it's fair to say we were all probably most excited about this project out of the four that were announced in quick succession. A shame it didn't really amount to anything. I think this is the third time she managed to escape the Razzies. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

I wasn't worried. If they had nominated her, it would have been ludicrous because her performance was praised across the board.
This is more of a putdown to Aronofsky and Lawrence, although I thought Bardem was hammy in his role too.
Interesting to see that two of her contemporaries, Basinger and Sarandon, were nominated.
Pfeiffer-Pfan - what other two performances you are referring to?

They were contemplating giving her nominations for her performances in both Mother! and The Family. She was also apart of 'Worst Screen Ensemble' for New Year's Eve.

The Family surprises me. A meh movie but I liked her performance aside from the accent which came and went. I was expecting The Story Of Us - her worst performance IMO.

They want attention, clearly and they got it by nominating the biggest movie star in the world right now. Aronofsky's direction was pretty impressive, if he deserves an award for worst anything it's that screenplay.

Usually, not always, but usually, when a person gives a truly bad performance in a film, the razzie ppl will go ahead and nominate that person's other performances of that year too. I have a feeling that was the case w Bardem. If Michelle had been nominated, they probably would have also cited her for Murder on the Orient Express which would have made me doubly furious!! LOL

Such a sweet film n she's adorable in it The turns from her I like the least r Sweet Liberty- she's not given much room to explore her character there n To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday- there's no conflict in her character for her to play (other than being a ghost); all she does is just be perfect, which isn't that interesting for her to play or us to watch.

If Pfeiffer ever deserved a Razzie, it was for Up Close & Personal. That is by far her worst performance. Not even close. If only they had stuck with the original script/idea for that project.
BTW, Oscar nominations are tomorrow. Anyone still holding out hope for a major shock? Lol. Sigh.

Oh, UCAP is way down there on my list too. They really screwed up by watering down the Jessica Savitch story to a puffball piece that tried to skate by on Redford and Michelle’s star power. The screenplay had no teeth and I think my favorite parts were the various wigs she wore. Of course, she looked great too but I didn’t think she had much chemistry w Redford, nothing compared to the spark she had w Sean Connery in Russia House (love that movie).

Yeah, "Up Close & Personal" was no good movie and I think her acting wasn't that natural at the beginning, or bad writing? I actually quite like her cry/break down scene though, but I didn't watch it for long time. It's funny that although many of Pfans think it's bad, the public actually love it, I forgot how many times I heard people saying it's one of their Pfeiffer-favourite movie, it was quite a hit internationally and Michelle's name was quite BIG in Asia ever since Batman Returns and Dangerous Minds.

I'm really happy for Peele and Kaluuya and Get Out being nominated and Manville was the surprise nod in Supporting Actress. They snubbed Holly Hunter! The fact that Mary J. Blige got a nomination for that nothing performance will bug me for a long, long time. Stupid Oscars. And no nods for Orient Express in Costumes or Art Direction, a little surprising since it got Guild nominations.

Yea, I wanted to see Murder in Costumes, Cinematography, Production Design, Score n Song...shame none of those happened. I was also sad Chau got snubbed...BUT I'm so happy bout Call Me By Your Name, Three Billboards n especially Phantom Thread!! I've been sad that many haven't warmed up to it as much as I hoped they would so I'm so grateful for all of the nods it got...

I'm happy for Leslie Manville, great actress. I think our Michelle can be far better than Octavia Spencer or Mary J. Blidge but I'm happy for 'The Shape of the Water' (I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm dyng to see).
I like 'Get Out' but it's not a masterpiece for me, it's a good movie, The Oscar are pollitically correct in this case and very stupid in a lot of cases.
I think I will liek very much 'Phantom Thread'.
The song from 'Murder...' was very good, I don't understand why is not nominated.
I liked 'Three Billboards ...' but I think it doesn't arrive at the level of 'Fargo'.
'Call me by your name' must be one of the greatest movies of the year.

The Story of Us isn't very good either, but I thought Pfeiffer's acting was fine, the main problem is the terrible writing.

Pfeiffer lost to Laurie Metcalf, FYI. Not a surprise. They only have the winners go to their awards ceremony, so Pfeiffer won't be there. Still, it was very cool they nominated her.

Have we still not gotten the full LA Times Roundtable video? What in the world happened to that?
Also, the Oscar nominees lunch is today. I hope they all get food poisoning. #Bitter
