Saw Star Wars earlier today. I dunno who said it, but anyone who thought Carrie would get some late in the game awards love was wrong. A nice send off tho. Woulda been fun to have seen Michelle try a crack at Dern's part in it.

Okay, the next nomination announcements are the SAG awards. They announce on Wednesday at 7 AM Pacific time. They are known for surprises. And remember, they don’t have Supporting categories for TV films or limited series for some reason, so if Pfeiffer is going to get nominated, it will be in Lead Actress. Not going to be easy, given the competition.

Has anyone seen the LA Times roundtable, and if so, where do I find it? Thanks. The person who tweeted this photo from the event replied to me and said he thinks the video will be online Friday

No SAG nomination, oh well. Four nominations for Wizard of Lies is pretty great. If SAG had Supporting categories, its safe to say she would have gotten nominated. Now watch them finally create Supporting TV categories next year, Lol.

Feinberg analyzes the Sag and Globes nominations and says that there are some people that were'nt nominated for a Sag or Golden Globe but were nominated for an Oscar. Only one of this actors won an Oscar without being nominated for Sag and Globe: Marcia Gay Harden, for Pollock. www.hollywoodreporter.com/race/oscars-golden-globe-sag-award-noms-snubs-shape-race-1067259He offers a list of possible nominations for these people, but again no tlak of Michelle. He only talks about his Jennifer Lawrence, etc. Ah, this Feinberg it's worthy of study, he, he

Thanks for the info on the LA Times round table! Can’t wait to view it.
Scott Feinberg is so infatuated with Jessica Chastain and a few others that he has difficulty seeing anyone else or so it seems. That being said, mother! Is not the kind of film that Academy voters rally around. It’s too out there, too in your face, too arty for more conservative members. Even with the recent addition of younger and more diverse members, I don’t think the film has enough industry support to get a single nomination. Regardless, Michelle reminded everyone this year that she is an acting force to be reckoned with. Here’s hoping she is among the all female lineup of presenters at the upcoming SAG awards and that more juicy roles come her way soon.

Now watch them finally create Supporting TV categories next year, Lol. I think Kidman and Witherspoon's noms should be withdrawn and placed in the Drama series category since it's been announced there is a season 2 of BLL w the actresses playing the same characters. Since this now makes BLL a continuing drama series n no longer a limited series/mini-series, I feel their noms in those categories r no longer valid. Like I seriously feel a complaint should be made LOL

Filling out my ballot for Austin Film Critics Assoc. today. So much more exhausting n time consuming than last year cuz of the high caliber of films this year
In any case, I've put Michelle down as my top choice for Best Supporting Actress!!

Are you guys the last regional group to announce? Sure seems like everyone else has already come out with them. It would be cool if your group is the one to recognize her!

I think we might be one of the last...I dunno if London has announced winners or just nominees. I know at our annual meeting over the summer, one of the points of discussion was to push back the voting deadline n announcements cuz members were having trouble a) receiving everything (half of our members didn't get the Coco screening) n b) watching everything (only a small handful of us actually made it to the Phantom Thread screening a couple of weeks ago).
But it hasn't helped cuz studios r STILL sending us screeners via email n everyone is still scrambling to watch last minute stuff. I myself still have to watch Victoria n Abdul, Molly's Game n Breathe.
It would be cool if other ppl put her forward like me. Things like that aren't unheard of in this group. We chose Rosamund Pike as Best Actress for Gone Girl in 2014 while most other groups chose Julianne Moore for Still Alice n in 2008 the group famously awarded The Dark Knight as Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director n Best Picture.
Still, not holding my breath.

I wonder if Pfeiffer will present at the Golden Globes? They could get her to present the clip package for "The Post", as she is friends with Spielberg and she presented "War Horse" last time, but I would rather see her hand out an award.

Well, our final ballot for Austin Film Critics Association was just emailed to us n I'm sad to report, Michelle didn't make it. Neither did Chau or any of my other picks. Super disappointed.

It just wasn't meant to be. Too small of a role, too divisive, didn't make enough money. That said, she still deserves recognition for her performance. I'm just so annoyed Mary J. Blige is getting all these nominations for doing a whole lot of nothing in her Netflix film. Ridiculous.

Blige is getting all these nominations for doing a whole lot of nothing in her Netflix film. Ridiculous. Blige actually made the final ballot...as did Hunter, Spencer, Janney n Metcalf. I'm actually going to email our president n tell him I'm not submitting a vote for any nominee in the Supporting Actress category for my final ballot. Beyond being disappointed that Michelle was snubbed again, I just feel such a disconnect with the choices in the categories; each of them play stereotypes or were given extremely limited and ill-defined characters to play. Every other category is a slam-dunk for me, and in some cases, I feel like my voice was heard from the initial first round ballot (i.e. Kristen Stewart making the top 5 of nominees for Best Actress). But this is the one category that I feel such a disconnect toward, that I couldn't possibly find anyone here I'd want to vote for.

I wonder if people are actually watching Mudbound or just "name-checking" her since she is a big music star. So stupid. If you watch the film, please tell me what exactly she does to earn all of this praise. There is nothing there, at all.

The film got enough critical praise that anyone can see its inclusion at the Razzie's in ANY category just shows how uncomfortable/angry/clueless it left some who saw it...including a handful of Razzie voters. This says more bout them than it does bout the quality of the film itself.

No news on Michelle presenting an award yet. Would be quite good if was to present Limited Series to BLL or Actress in a Limited Series.

Ridiculous. They clearly just want attention. I wouldn’t worry about the Razzies - the film is an easy target and they love to diss major stars like J Law. No one takes this seriously.

I would still rather Pfeiffer didn't have a Razzie nom anywhere on her resume. There's no way they can look at her performance, which was almost universally praised and say she deserves a nomination for ''bad acting''.

And yet she couldn't even get a runner-up mention from ANY critics group? Weird. Better than nothing, though.

That would be a great, and very BIG surprise. She seems to have a lot of fans in the UK and got a lot of great ink/press over there in 2017. Maybe she can pull off a surprise BAFTA nom in five days. They seem to like her a lot, they longlisted her for Stardust and Hairspray in 2007/2008. Its a shame they no longer release their longlist. I hope they had her on for mother! and Murder.
