I hope this goes viral. She needs to build her buzz back up for 'mother!'. Hopefully she is out there more once she is done with ANT-MAN. I don't know what the heck Paramount is doing, but they are pushing Kristen Wiig big time for Supporting Actress for mother! and Downsizing, when she is hardly in either film. She is doing Actors on Actors and was campaigning at the Governor's Awards last night. It's really weird. And just in case any of you want to voice your opinions to Paramount and their awards publicist about giving Pfeiffer a proper campaign, you can do so here: email: awards@paramount.com and their awards publicist is on Twitter: twitter.com/leayardum

Another great and well deserved tribute. Lots of glowing press about her and all of it is music to my ears. Just hope it translates to some awards love. Do not understand Paramount giving Wiig an awards push for mother! at all. Haven't seen Downsizing but I didn't think her role was substantial or all that interesting based on the reviews.
I will email and tweet Paramount. They need to get behind Michelle.

Decided to move these posts to a new thread for awards season, so feel free to post any news or information here. I love how just after I was bitching about Paramount not campaigning for her, this news some out Lol. Egg on my face. ANYWAY: She already did the roundtable and photoshoot.

Great news. Hope she is asked to do the Hollywood Reporter one too. I really like the way they handle those.
Also a great idea to start a separate thread for this topic. Bravo.

Fantastic news. Can't wait to see this. Looks like this will be the last of her PR though as her make up artist posted on Instagram http://instagram.com/p/BbcMLi4Fkc1 I guess unless Michelle does get some nominations or does some presenting at the upcoming awards season.

Well, boo. I thought if she was going to campaign, she'd do a ton of events. Better than nothing, though!

Maybe she has another secret project lined up which will prevent her. Either way I think it would be safe to say Michelle should definitely be at the GG either as a nominee or supporting David with BLL.

There was some thought by a few people that she could be in the running for the Cecil B. Demille award at the Golden Globes, that should be announced soon, but if that Instagram post is true, I guess we can rule her out. Maybe she is just tired and wants to rest. She's had a busy couple of years, so I don't blame her.

So is Michelle's appearance on Kelly and Ryan a pre-taped thing or something?? Or is it the end of the run for the make-up artist before SHE moves onto another job/client??

I saw somebody on Twitter say they were at that taping and were wondering when it would air. I assume she taped it the same time she was in New York for the Today Show.

That would make sense, yup. It's the week of thanksgiving and a number of talk show hosts do that to have time off like the rest of us lol

I think Pfeiffer's somewhere in the 5th-7th slot right now in the Best Supporting Actress Oscars. And this LA roundtable really helps in increasing her profile. I hope she does at least one more high profile appearance. Best scenario would the Hollywood Reporter roundtable. Next would be SAG, I guess.
I do wonder if Murder on the Orient Express will hurt her more than help her. Given that both her roles are in the supporting category, she could split her own votes. And the Awardsdaily article, though very generous of Pfeiffer, could cause some confusion given that the writer was pushing for a nomination for Murder.
I just hope this isn't another White Oleander snub. She is so overdue for another Oscar nomination. A lot of actresses have gotten nominated for far less stellar work than mother!. I don't think it's anywhere her best work, but they love nominating scene-stealers in the supporting category. And she was definitely one in that movie.

I think it'll be ok. No one is really looking at Murder as an Oscar contender in the top categories based on the reviews...

Fox doesn't seem to be campaigning for Orient Express at all, they still don't list it on their FYC/Screenings website, so she probably won't be on any ballots for that. For me, I think it's like this right now: 1. Janney 2. Metcalf 3. Hunter (I agree with those who say she was nothing special, but she's an Oscar favorite and the film was a huge hit) 4. Chau 5. Blige (I don't get the acclaim for this performance either, people say Pfeiffer had nothing to do in mother!, well Blige has pretty much nothing to do in this, she barely makes an impact) ...then Lesley Manville Octavia Spencer Melissa Leo Pfeiffer This category has gotten pretty crowded compared to a couple months ago.

Blige is dependent on whether or not the academy has finally shed the prejudice its had to Netflix titles in the past. Incidentally, Leo's film was shit...writing up my review this week. Horrible. She was good, good enough to be a contender, but even she came off campy in a couple of moments as a result of the movie's low quality

Not familiar with the system but in case both 'mother!' and 'murder on the orient express' push hard to campaign Pfeiffer for Best Supporting Actress, will it actually shares the votes and hurt the chance to make her win or even being nominated?

Actually, thinking about it, I'm not sure she could even be put on the nominating ballot more than once in the same category. I'll have to read up on it but I'm pretty sure they have a rule that one actor cannot be nominated for two different performances in one category. They do allow double-nominees in Lead and Supporting, though, as we have seen a few times, like Holly Hunter and Julianne Moore.

The same person cannot put Pfeiffer's name in the same category twice. But people can put whoever they want in the ballot regardless of whether there's a campaign or not. The vote split that I was talking about was more about the people who recognized that Pfeiffer had a great comeback year, but hated mother!. So those people would probably nominate her in MOTOE instead. I guess that percentage is not that big, but given that she's somewhat in the fringe, every vote counts. One positive thing that I can think of is that mother! has a passionate fanbase. She only needs a small number of people to put her #1 in their ballots to get nominated. I can see enough people putting her in their #1 spots. Also, she had a lot of media exposure compared to some of the other contenders. I'm sure that helps also.

This may be a stretch but her work in Murder might work in her favor. Some who hated mother! might vote for her based on the strength of both performances. They may take into account that she gave three stunning performances this year, assuming enough voters have heard about her work in the largely unseen Kyra I know that none of this is supposed to factor in. People should vote based on the merits of each performance and only for films that are eligible. But Michelle does have momentum and many in the industry feel the way we do: that she is overdue. Way overdue.

Yes, the industry support has been quite something. Charlize Theron was at a special screening, and last night Hugh Jackman and Ellen Burstyn hosted a screening in New York. And also this: www.awardscircuit.com/2017/11/14/oscar-circuit-lady-bird-flying-high-awards-season-harrelson-joins-rockwell-supporting-actor/On another note, the Hollywood Reporter Actress Roundtable is out and no Pfeiffer. Janney, Ronan, Lawrence, Stone, Chastain and Blige. Netflix is REALLY trying to make Blige happen and she did get nice reviews, but she does NOTHING in the film and is nowhere near deserving of a nomination for it. I think the whole Netflix thing will hurt her chances, at least at the Oscars.
