So wish this would be picked up by Roadside Attractions. Look at how well they are doing with Beatriz at Dinner - Killer Films other production this year, $715,047 from 77 theatres this weekend. Sadly, this movie just doesn't have the same commercial appeal. I wonder if Killer Films got offers from smaller distributors like The Orchard and decided to wait for a better offer and better company?

another rave review for michelle! missntertainment.com/2017/06/20/where-is-kyra-at-bam-cinemafest/It’s the story of a woman in her 50s who returns home to New York to look after her ailing mother, but cannot find a job to survive and is pushed to an utter extreme out of her despair. Michelle Pfeiffer is excellent in this role – Dosunmu told us later it was her first indie part, and they shot the film in 17 days. She gives it so much, immersing herself into a woman, past her so-called prime, whose face has etched into it memories of being married and employed and part of the normal running of life, who now just doesn’t know what to do.

So she does have a good breakdown/crying scene, I was wondering about that. Good review after good review. This deserves to get picked up, damn it.

Meanwhile, IFC just picked up US distribution rights for the Andie McDowell / Chris O'Dowd film "Love After Love."
Where is Krya indeed?!?

With reviews like these, surely some awards hungry distributor will cough up the dough to get this into theaters by year 's end.
Not sure if it will be considered for competitive showings at Venice, Toronto or Tellruride with the exposure at other film festivals this year, but with one glowing Pfeiffer review after another, it will be criminal if she isn't given a shot at winning a Best Actress nomination.

I like that poster a lot. Makes sense to highlight Pfeiffer's raves.
Man, please don't let this go to Lifetime or somewhere like that on TV. I'd be okay with Netflix or Amazon as long as they give it a theater release first, before streaming.
I trust that Christine Vachon won't let this go straight to DVD or straight to streaming, though. She's wanted to work with Pfeiffer for a long time. Pfeiffer was attached to Vachon's film Infamous in 2006/2007 before dropping out to do ICNBYW and she wanted Pfeiffer for Still Alice. I think she'll do whatever it takes to get a good deal even with a smaller company like The Orchard or Magnolia.

Close to career best reviews, but shy of her White Oleander raves. It's exciting. Also, the producer of the Oscar winning short film Stutterer called Where is Kyra? "spectacular".

Yeah, at this point any kind of theatrical release would be fine even if turns out to be a big flop. I feel like this is going to be one of the defining movies of the latter part of her career. But this will be forgotten so quick if it goes straight to dvd or straight to streaming.

I agree, this is the kind of performance/role that sounds like it will make people respect her as an actor, if they didn't already, or even more so if they did. Like I said before, this is the kind of work that Kidman has been doing for years. "Fearless", "riveting". I'm very happy she did this film and hope she does more indies like it, if given the opportunity.

Sara, I wouldn't say "stick a fork in it" if it doesn't go to TIFF, but it certainly would be disappointing and probably not a good sign in terms of an awards push for her.

Just looking at IMDB and A24'S 2017 film slate, they only have one film that they would possibly have a campaign for Best Actress awards and that is Kirsten Dunst for Woodshock, but that's a big long shot. If they want a Best Actress contender, look for them to buy something at TIFF. They already have so many films to promote and campaign in other categories this year though.

Toronto announces their lineups starting July 25th. Hoping this gets a spot as Canadian Premiere. Most likely won't get a Gala screening because it's already been at 3 other festivals. If this does not get included in the Toronto lineup.....I won't know what to think.

A Saoirse Ronan film just got picked up by A24 for a fall release, so they have their Best Actress contender now. This is getting annoying.

Lol, I was just thinking to myself the other day..."ask them on Instagram what the hell the deal with this film is, do it!" but thought they wouldn't answer because I have like only 150 followers....and it turns out they respond to an account with....zero followers/following....haha. But that's good news, thanks for posting! Here's hoping.

I wonder if this will be announced for Toronto? I bet this film will end up at The Orchard or IFC but I suppose at this rate it would be better than nothing.

This looks like it is actually getting additional filming. Arthur Jafa is a cinematographer so he must be stepping in for Bradford Young who is filming Han Solo. http://instagram.com/p/BWvDdsmnBsP
