This news was released 14 hours ago?? How did we miss that lol that's like a week in today's society lol. But yeah, this is surprising. I'm also confused, the linked article says she is replacing Matthew, but another article on Twitter says she and Matthew will star together.

Yea, I’m not sure if they’re going to be co-leads, or if it’s going to be refashioned completely for her.
If it’s the former, that could make for some great dynamics between the two

It sounds like they are both being courted as co leads and Michelle is closer to a deal

The other article that's on Twitter says Cole Hauser is demanding to be listed above both Michelle and Matthew on the call sheet lol. Good luck with that. Also, isn't Cole best friends with Michelle's brother-in-law??? awkward.

Only thing, it does sound a bit messy behind the scenes. Hopefully if Michelle signs on there is none of that.

It does sound a bit messy. I’m not super familiar with the show, but that sounds like some heavy demands these folks are trying to make. Maybe if the current actors stay, the credits will have a
“with Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew McConaughey”
type of billing, not to mention whatever is on the call sheet.

The casting information is confusing. Not sure if a deal w/ Michelle will close or not. Taking a wait and see.
Wasn't there a falling out between Costner and Taylor Sheridan, which led to Costner quitting? Seems like a contentious production to me, but maybe all of that is resolved now.

I'd love to see Michelle and Matthew on screen together. I can see Matthew walking away from this though and Michelle of course, who am I kidding.

Well, at least this is the lead or co-leading role. I'm more excited about that than seeing her in a modern western series. But if McC is still onboard, would they play siblings, a married couple, or enemies?
Still not counting on this happening but the idea is intriguing.

Same. The fact that she’s leading it gives me faith that this could be something worthy of her involvement.
I could see ex-lovers, or siblings/cousins, or just a general rivalry. But not super excited about the genre. Westerns and TV soap operas aren’t really my thing. Also, not thrilled about her taking on a multi-season project.

I've never seen the show but I know it's very popular. My sister loves it.
If Matthew does sign on I can't see anyone but him get top billing and Michelle getting the "and Michelle Pfeiffer billing".
If Kelly Reilly is asking for 1.5m per ep then I hope Michelle is getting at least 1.5-2m. I'd read MM was after 2.5m per ep.

I can see both their names above the title easily. His probably before hers

Yellowstone also uses different directors, so this would be Michelle's 1st time working with multiple directors.

Here is a photo from December of Michelle hanging out with, guess who...the wife of Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan on the left and an actress from Yellowstone on the right http://instagram.com/p/C0VfsLVM10P

Well, it looks like they have a pleasant rapport with each other, at least before Reilly’s demands started lol

From that pic alone I'd say Michelle must be in. Maybe she's a big fan of the show.

Yea, I can see her being in too. Honestly, though, if she were to back out at the last minute, this still gives me reassurance that she is very much open to working and is actively looking at projects.

I'm guessing Michelle would be involved in the filming of the final season in some capacity if it's to tie in with the spinoff?

I would think so. An overlapping storyline to hook viewers into watching the spinoff. Jeez, this has a cheesy element to it, a la, Joan Collins joining Dynasty. Groan. To be fair, I haven't seen Yellowstone. I know it's very popular, but I can't speak to the quality of the show. I'd be more excited about a new indie film or limited dramatic series. But it's time for her to re-emerge. Past time. So here we are.

I was thinking Joan Collins in Dynasty as well. Not sure how I’d feel about that tbh lol. I too was hoping for an indie/mid budget type of film, but I’ll take what I can get I suppose. Hopefully if this isn’t ready to start filming for a while, she’ll have time for one of the other projects that have been sitting on the back burner, or maybe something else?

I don't mind this for Michelle. The lead or co lead of a spinoff of a popular TV show. Also be interesting seeing her tackle a different genre with a Western.
I don't imagine Michelle would do a long stretch. Maybe a couple of seasons or more if it's successful. Hopefully she can pick up some recognition for her work.
I'm just wondering how long till officially confirmed by the trades if she was close to a deal.

I would be fine for 3-4 seasons if she took on other projects in between

From Wiki
Viewership of the series has grown with subsequent seasons. The season 3 premiere attracted 7.6 million viewers, and the season 4 premiere tallied 12.7 million viewers. The season 5 premiere garnered 12.1 million viewers. The show has been called a "Heartland drama" and "red state" drama, a label which Sheridan himself disputes.
