I think it'll only be a matter of time before Michelle is announced for The Flash. Saw this tidbit from DC Fandome:
The confirmation of DC multiverse. New Flash suit inspired in the 90s animated show. The original premise of the film: The anti Flash killed Flash's mother and then he wants to travel over time to avoid that killing. Instead he breaks time and space while arriving in a new Universe, the one with Michael Keaton's Batman. In that Universe also appeared Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman as Keaton's wife. Also, it being helped by Henry Cavill's Superman (Who will be DC Nick Fury in cameos and special participations

But I guess it would be cool to see her back in that universe.

That plot sounds kinda sloppy IMO. Still, I agree, it’d be cool to see her as that character again so I guess I’d be for it.

I'm not familiar with Dear Evan Hansen. Who would Michelle possibly play and would it be a good role? A shame French Exit never got a mention. I'm not familiar with it either, all I know is that there are two parts for two actresses over 45 : Heidi Hansen, mother of Ben Platt's character, and Cynthia Murphy, mother of Kaitlyn Dever's character. Apparently Heidi Hansen is a good role, the one that could garner awards attention (Rachel Bay Jones won a Tony for this role). Amy Adams got the role of Cynthia. Wish we knew what project Michelle was talking about when she said she had something lined up.

Julianne Moore got the mother role in Dear Evan Hansen. That's a very demanding role vocally. Does Moore sing?

Julianne Moore got the mother role in Dear Evan Hansen. Meanwhile, Michelle is at home sniffing perfume samples.

Probably nothing related to Michelle but her makeup artist Valli O'Reilly has just finished a 14 day quarantine isolation in Toronto. Must be work on something though.

But seriously folks.....
Gotta whine for a moment here. Is it just me (probably) or does it feel like Michelle is always third or fourth choice after Streep, Moore, Bening, etc.?
I don't even know if she wanted to be in Dear Evan Hansen or if she was on their wish list. It just seems that whenever a coveted role comes along for an actress of a certain age or type, someone else gets the part.
Do producers consider her too beautiful, too goddessey for certain roles?
I really don't understand why she isn't busier when she is clearly open to film work. Or so she says.
Whine over. For now.

Well, it's entirely valid and most likely that she's turning down more than we know. She definitely has her own standards and criteria for what she says yes to that are very specific to her sensibilities as an actress and if a part doesn't meet them, she's got no problem whatsoever turning saying no. This is something that's been consistent throughout her whole career.
I'm not sad about her not getting any of Bening's recent roles from the last couple of years. They either weren't worth getting too excited about, or if they were, Bening was the right choice. The same for me with Moore with the exception of maybe Gloria Bell, and that's very much a maybe. I gotta say I wouldn't have minded if she'd gotten Moore's role, or even Leigh's role in The Woman in the Window, both (but particularly Moore's) parts look like they could be fun supporting roles in a flashy-looking thriller. But if she had and then had Turn of Mind indeed gone ahead, it might've been a re-tread. Yet as it stands now, Turn of Mind is up in the air and Woman in the Window has no current release plans ha ha
As for Streep, well, the same as above. She was either perfect for the roles she's played or they weren't worth getting too excited about. I mean, I guess it coulda been interesting to have seen Michelle take on The giver or Into the Woods, but neither movie ended up being worth writing home about in the end. Who knows, maybe The Prom will make me change my mind lol
I also think that she wants to find a balance between work and her business, which is reasonable. I like that. What I don't like, never liked, was her little flurry of activity followed by years of silence. Hairspray/Stardust/Woman/Effects/Cheri followed by the 2 years of silence and then New Year's/Shadows/People/Family followed by more silence drove me nuts!! If I can get one project a year out of her, I'm fine with that. I'll let this year go cuz, well obviously lol

You can only say 'NO' so many times before casting directors/producers start taking the hint. Being picky and ''tough to get'' might have it's appeal and allure when you're in your 20s/30s and notching up box office hits, but it's not so attractive when your in your 60s and the landscape of the entertainment field has changed.
I love Michelle to bits, but I truly believe that she considers herself a ''film actress'', and is reluctant to appear in a mini-series or streaming show. Either because she thinks it's beneath her or she just doesn't want that level of work commitment. If you want the plum parts, you need to be seen, you need to be working, and you need to appear relevant to the film industry as it looks now.
Now perhaps she is happy away from it all and would simply rather keep one foot (tentatively) in the film world, and if so she has probably achieved a pleasant work/life balance. It's just a shame that someone as beautiful and talented as her should be wasting these vital years on screen, before moving into ''old woman'' roles. It's possible that if she adjusted her attitude to work, she'd be showered with roles and awards over the next few years.
Let's hope whatever comes up next is interesting and not just the paycheck of 'ANT-MAN 3'.

I kind of thought the same thing as you, but she was attached to that Katie Couric limited series, so she's at least open to the idea of TV and of course she did WoL for HBO. I think a big part of the issue is, she doesn't mingle and play the game that Hollywood wants you to play. As far as we can see, she never really goes to premieres or parties or tributes. Even though she's clearly still A-list and a big name, doing that stuff would certainly go a long way. She also said herself, she never reaches out to directors to say she wants to be part of their project. The fact that the only time she did it was for Dark Shadows...yeesh lol. I also still think people think she's way too attractive for certain roles. At the end of the day, she's still working quite a bit and far more than Sharon Stone or other actresses like that. That speaks to her staying power and standing within the industry.

Ben Platt playing a teenager? GTFO. And a lot of people hated the musical. The Woman in the Window also has terrible buzz after test screenings. So i'm not upset about her missing out on that anymore.

I don't care about Evan Hansen specifically. That was just one recent example of a high profile, prestige project - regardless of what anyone thinks of the play or Ben Platt - that went to Moore and this seems to be a pattern.
Michelle has a good eye for a script and for good parts. Her track record is good overall with a few glaring exceptions - Personal Effects, Gillian, The Family, Dark Shadows. I agree she says yes based on characters who feel close to her sensibilities and she remains true to that, although I cannot figure why she did the Ant Man movies unless it was to add a Marvel film to her resume or the paycheck. She must have known they would cut her scenes first and maybe she was braced for that.
Michelle was much better suited to Mama Mia than Streep. It's a crappy movie but it was a huge international hit and would have given her a high profile film when she wasn't working much at all.
I like Stone but she isn't in the same league as Pfeiffer IMO.
Hoping FE is the critically acclaimed return to glory that she deserves. I want to see her make more films like this.

I’m so totally not a fan of McKay so I’m alright with her not getting this. I’m more sad she didn’t get Jolie’s latest role even if it is by the author of Still Alice, which I didn’t really care for.

One of these days a great director (Fincher, Scorsese, etc) will cast her in a juicy supporting role that will lead to great things for her. But right now t's just disappointment after disappointment. I know the other two here who saw FE liked it, but it was a mess to me and another huge missed opportunity.

I see Sharon Stone is starring in Andrew Dosunmu's next movie, BEAUTY. Just wait and see how heavily promoted and praised it is, with no doubt a juicy supporting role for Stone.
I wonder if Pfeiffer and Dosunmu didn't get along? Disappointing to see either she or the distributors choose not to support it.

Oh, I immediately watched it a second time and had the same reaction both times. Tho the second viewing got cut off in the last couple of frames before the car drives away in the end. I think the second viewing helped me to realize that it was the third act which felt a little more rushed than I woulda preferred, but also confirmed that I did like that movie overall.
