I can't tell yet. Do they have chemistry or not? Not sure. I wanted to love this more than I do but it's still hard to say. She looks fab though.

It's never fair to judge a performance with just a clip plucked out of context.
I think she looks good, is clearly pushing the strong (yet sensitive due to aging) femme fatale vibe, and is having fun with rhythm. Honestly, I am worried the script is what will let this movie down.

Honestly, I am worried the script is what will let this movie down. The script is really my only concern to be honest...the writer's past credits haven't been some of my favorites...but he is responsible for this year's Logan and Blade Runner 2049, both of which have gotten strong positive responses in pretty much all ares, so I'm part hopeful/part cautious.

Loving the look of this film. Michelle's outburst in the club car is very well done. I will be in LA when this comes out and plan to see it in 70mm. Can't wait.

That would be very good. And I imagine it will do pretty well overseas, too, especially in the UK.

Michael Green...he wrote this year's Logan and Blade Runner 2049, both of which have gotten lots of acclaim...he's actually becoming one of the hottest screenwriters around.

FOX is playing television spots for this all over. See it on every channel plus even during NFL football games.

Graham is annoying but his show is usually fun but personally I like Jonathan Ross better. Mich was so good with Craig Ferguson but they fired him so I think or hope she will do Kimmel or Colbert. Say no to Jimmy Fallon! and I dont like James Cordon but it would be fun if she did the carpool karaoke on his show but methinks she would never do it haha My dream line-up of late night hosts for her to chat with would be...Corden, Meyers, Ross, Handler....although her show's now been canceled. NO MORE Fallon!! LOL

Curious bout the budget...

That would not be bad at all, assuming the budget is in the $70 million range.

Curious bout the budget... Yep. $70 million seems logical, but then add in the marketing, that must be an additional $40 million plus. They are doing a lot and those big displays with the cut-outs of the characters at theatres are not cheap.

I wonder what triggered the uptick in boxoffice projections. Maybe those TV spots are making it trend higher on social media or something. So far, the fall boxoffice has been a bust for adult skewing films with one disappointment after another. My feeling is this one has a good shot at big opening numbers based on the AC brand, the starry cast (which covers multiple demographics), and the way the studio is marketing it as an event movie.
For it to have legs, though, Branagh will have to deliver enough spectacle, thrills, and period elegance to attract audiences throughout the Holiday season. Good reviews are important too because this is the kind of film that needs a push from the critics. I am interested to see how - or if - Branagh will satisfy AC lovers and handle the talky nature of the book without losing the Millennials. One significant positive IMO is how they constructed the train to move while they were filming. So it seems like Branagh and the screenplay are giving it a modern touch and maybe juicing up the characters a bit without betraying the source material. A delicate balance but I'm hoping he pulled it off.
Fandango is showing the runtime as 2 hours, 7 minutes - perfect, I'd say.

A delicate balance but I'm hoping he pulled it off. Fandango is showing the runtime as 2 hours, 7 minutes - perfect, I'd say. Oh what great news...I was hoping for at least a 2 hour run time!! I think this movie's main target audience, the ones who could make this a hit, will for sure be older...they're the ones who made Sully n the Marigold Hotel films hits...they're also the main AC fans (not counting oddball wierdoes like me LOL). There is def some potential for younger audiences thanks to the appearance of Odom, Gad and especially Ridley, not to mention the fact that Branagh's blockbusters (Frankenstein, Cinderella) tend to have broad appeal. I Don't wanna jinx it, but I'm kinda expecting the reviews to be solid. Critics tend to like Branagh as a director n the screenwriter's last two films have scored VERY well w the critics!! Of course, there is always the chance of the film failing to hit the mark, despite having all the elements...for whatever reason. Just have to wait n see...but regardless, the film has a lot going for it. Less than 3 weeks away!!

Thinking I'm gonna try my hardest to stay away from all reviews as possible. Don't want ANYTHING to taint my first impression of the movie LOL

Typically not a good sign, but I'll hold out hope. Oh, they all say that...regardless of the movie usually. Nearly every studio film asks us to hold reviews as close to the release date as we can, no matter which movie it is. As a natural procrastinator, I've never particularly minded this. It also gives me more time to live w a film before rushing to review it. Today for example, I had to pound out my Goodbye Christopher Robin review n I only just saw it last night. Ideally, I would have had a whole extra couple of days to let the movie rest in my psyche n potentially churn out a better piece. My boss is just the opposite mentality. "Get it out ASAP, if it's hitting theaters on Thursday night, get it out on Wed eve/Thurs morning so we can get more hits. No reason to wait till the end of the week!" Makes me nuts sometimes lol

Kenneth Branagh was just on Jimmy Kimmel. They showed a new clip but not with Pfeiffer, just Branagh and Gad. He must be tied up in a couple weeks and had to do promotion earlier.
