Apparently the trailer is playing in Germany, accdg to a Twitter user... I saw that, but others are saying it's just been sent to German cinemas and is available for them to download but haven't played it yet. I don't think anyone really knows anything. As for Lawrence fans, I kind of cut thema break, seeing as how many of them are teen girls, Lol.

1:09 is very short, even for a teaser. They're usually somewhere between 1:30 to 2:00.

I think Trailer Track had it listed at a similar length as well earlier so I'm not all that shocked

It was expected yesterday in France and Germany with Dunkirk's release in theaters, but it didn't happen.
Twitter is saying it will be seen today in Brazil theaters but nothing official that I can find.
The J-Law fans are dying.

The Lawrence fan accounts acting like they know stuff are funny: "Trailer coming Wednesday!"....."It's been changed to Thursday morning at 8 am!" ....."WHERE IS THE TRAILER?!!" David Fincher could make a movie about this saga.

It's official - the new release date is Sept. 15. Shit. Link to the Variety article. variety.com/2017/film/news/jennifer-lawrence-mother-moves-forward-release-1202502053/And here is a hint of what the teaser trailer is about. Lower your expectations. Full article here: www.slashfilm.com/mother-trailer/"A reader first told us that a mother! trailer played before an IMAX screening of Dunkirk in New York City’s AMC Empire 25 tonight, and we’ve also corroborated reader reports of the trailer playing in least two other locations in NYC: AMC 34th Street and Regal Union Square. No word yet on any other theaters in the country, but we’ll be keeping our ears open. We’ve also confirmed that the mother! trailer is not attached to every print of Dunkirk, so it looks the studio might be zeroing in on a specific market here. They say that the trailer features no actual footage from the movie and is instead mostly a black screen with words appearing on the screen, all cut to audio from the film. The trailer ends with a reveal of the movie’s new, earlier release date: September 15, 2017. (The movie was originally set for an October 13, 2017 release date.) It’ll now face off against the survival thriller Alpha and the ensemble action film American Assassin at the box office, so hopefully audiences won’t make their choices about what to see based solely on the title’s alphabetical placement that weekend."

What the hell did Pfeiffer do to piss off the Movie Gods? She has the worst luck. This is a bizarre move so close to the release and a really terrible date. This was supposed to be her year, damn it.

I've been trying to come up with a positive spin on this but I can't.
It looks they are dumping it in Sept. to get whatever they can at the box-office based on curiosity and whatever drawing power J-Law has. There is no official trailer and the release date is what - seven weeks away. I wonder if they are even submitting it for in-competition showing at Venice, TIFF or Telluride. Paramount may not consider this awards worthy, or worse, they hate the film and have given up on it.
What's with the select showing of the teaser at targeted locations? Does this mean they are foregoing a wide release?
None of this bodes well from were I sit.

Does this mean they are foregoing a wide release? None of this bodes well from were I sit. Only positive spin I could think of was: -They wanted to release it right after a festival premiere in September so festival reviews wouldn't ruin the surprise elements a whole month before release in October. But that's just really dumb, because movies premiere at festivals months ahead of their release all the time. Unless this is the most surprising, most awe inspiring movie ever. I doubt it. -They wanted to avoid the crowded October schedule and do better box-office wise. That doesn't make sense either, with Lawrence's star power and buzz and word of mouth it would have been just fine in October. This just sounds like a huge flop to me. Too bad. She's finally in an Aronofsky film with Bardem and Lawrence and Harris and it looks like a huge misfire. A studio just doesn't move a movie like this, with big actors, out of a prime awards season date to September unless they have no confidence in it at all.

I'm happy with the move in terms of what else is opening around that time. I'd rather see Mother! go up against the likes of It (opening the week before) , rather than Blade Runner (opening first week of October). I think Mother! also has a better chance of succeeding in the new slot against the movies opening up on Sept 15th vs the ones opening on Oct 13. Plus, I'm not superstitious or anything, but the last movie she had the opened on Friday, the 13th was The Family...sooooooo I wasn't the most excited bout that release date from the minute I heard bout it for Mother!
That being said, I think the marketing for this movie has been a mess. Secrecy is one thing, but this is ridiculous...lack of a clear plot, a lame-sounding teaser trailer (now so close to the actual release) n only a poster to go by which is cool, but says NOTHING!! It's all so infuriating. Execs and Aronofsky must either think they've got a dog they need to put out of its misery, or a genius piece of work that can't fail no matter what they do to it...either way, I'm getting very annoyed by all this

Stop the pessimism already. This has been her year so far. She has received raves for Kyra and The Wizard of Lies, she received an Emmy nomination, TWOL has been the most successful HBO movie in a while, she´s been praised by many of her peers, so come on, people, look on the bright side.
This move is a positive thing considering the movies it is going to open against. They look like flops so it has a huge chance to be a hit now. Success at the box office and word of mouth during the last three months of the year can help it during awards season. I´m sure they will use these next 7 weeks to promote it well. It´s an Aronofski movie after all.

Moving it out of an awards season date out of the blue, etc. But yeah, we'll see, maybe this will be a one of a kind situation.

O.K. just for you jorgepagaza, here's some positive thoughts The Master was a September release, got three acting Oscar nominations. There are other high profile films that did get September dates but didn't get Oscar nods. We'll see what happens. Deep breath.

I understand people being negative and concerned it does seem strange to move it at this time but also think we should wait until reviews come out this sounds like a super different / unique movie True...hopefully this will show that Michelle doesn't always play it as safe as she usually does when it comes to film projects; that she is actually capable of taking risks from time to time.

Not giving up on this yet but the level of secrecy behind this with now less than 2 months until release if baffling. No stills, character details, trailer. Maybe they will play this in Venice and just drop it in cinemas.

Just thought of another Sept. release: American Beauty. But I guess it's just the timing of this that has me scratching my head. It's almost August and they just barely move the date to September? Maybe this will do Venice, Telluride and Toronto. If that's the case then I'll feel much better. That would be a great sign. If it skips festivals though.....yikes. We'll find out next week!

Ah, the clarity of morning after two strong cups of coffee.....
It's impossible to know what the new release date means without more information. We don't have any reliable insider info with the veil of secrecy that surrounds the film. Maybe it is so experimental, edgy and original that they want to maintain the mystery for as long as possible. As someone mentioned in this thread, the strategy may be to screen it at a film fest and get into into theaters soon after to minimize spoilers. On the other hand, this could be more about damage control because they expect the film to be polarizing or they don't think is has a chance of becoming a box-office or critically driven hit. We simply don't know yet. I was just hoping for a prime awards season release to boost Michelle's chance of a Best Supporting Actress nod, which could still happen even if the film turns out to be a disappointment.
Like Babyface said, this seems to indicate that Michelle is willing to take artistic risks - always a good sign no matter what the outcome is. It shows that she is still in love with acting and that can only mean good things in the future.
By the way, I am seeing several positive comments from people who saw the teaser yesterday. If the intent was to spark interest, it seems to be working so far.

"Presumably, Paramount feels the movie is not an awards contender and perhaps more of a straight genre play."
Would someone tell me what this means.....
