Oh. Well, yeah that would be a let down in terms of date. This is an artsy film with a strong central performance. This is classic fall film material.

Guys Littleminx now says WIK will be on the big screen 'n they had a call Monday but is likely a first quarter release, that means next year, January to March?? I guess this is better than nothing but wish it was a fall release for Mich Yea, better than nothing I guess. Wonder if there's a chance whoever is releasing this will do the whole low-key limited release qualifying run for awards consideration thing in Nov or Dec before releasing it wider later on like in Jan or Feb Maybe, but I'm not going to get my hopes up again, Lol. At least they're confident it will be released at all. As long as people get to see her raved performance, that's a great thing.

And therefor it stayed shelved for 1-2 before being shown in cinemas. And when that finally happened, MP went on to win an award at the film festival in Berlin and got her third Oscar nomination. Just saying...

Producer commented again, said no they will not be doing a qualifying run in December, she mentioned January, so just a January release? then she said theyll try for awards the next year 2018/19 season. Does not make sense to me because it will not be remembered/ that is really early in a year. But the public will be able to see it so thats good I am just grateful it will be in theaters so more people can see it. Thankfully it's not straight-to-dvd, straight-to-streaming or straight to TV. It sounds like nothing is set in stone yet, she said "most likely", so let's wait and see what happens. Whenever it is, I just can't wait for more rave reviews for Pfeiffer. I don't care how it's released, I just want it out there at this point...I'm so disappointed at how this film has been treated by both producers and distributors.

I bet Vachon and LittleMinx have been trying hard to get a good studio deal. Hollywood is a messed up place. Put all their eggs in sequels, prequels and remakes basket. They'll regret it. Hell, they already are.

Here are the actual comments from the Little Minx producer:
In response to a possible January release date:
This is a weird comment, January is not a great date for awards, unless you're doing a qualifying release in NYC and Los Angeles first in December.
She then spoke about the possibility of a qualifying release date:
Maybe she is a little mixed up and the distributor actually wants a qualifying run? I don't know. I'm just going to take a page from Bond, Babyfaced and JohnJohn and go with the flow on this one from now on, Lol. Any release is a good release at this point. Just get it seen by as many people as possible and get more rave reviews for Pfeiffer!

On the other hand I think all happens to be good, having the movie being released after 'Mother!' & 'Murder on the Orient Express' that actually help to market Pfeiffer as the lead in 'Where is Kyra?' with better awards prospect.

I think her best shot for any awards consideration is mother!. And I am really optimistic about her chances. There is buzz in this movie (she was already listed in Entertainment Weekly (and other sites) as a possible contender for supporting actress). What just needs to happen is for the movie to be a box-office and critical hit, and of course her role needs to be substantial enough to justify being singled out. I am confident that mother! would be a box-office hit and somewhat certain that she has a good role. What I am less certain is whether critics will love the movie. Darren Aronofsky has a somewhat spotty record with critics.

True, but in that case it would be better to release it this year in December, not wait. We'll see. I hope it comes to an art house theater near where I live!

Requiem for a Dream only has 68 score. But, I'm hopeful this will be good. And he has seemingly written a nice part for Pfeiffer. I disagree this is her best shot at awards, though. I still think that would have been Where is Kyra? And maybe it still will be. I'm just really excited about her choices this year, other than Murder. I hope she continues it next year after Ant-Man. I hope she does more dark dramas and indies, that's where she shines best.

Both Mother! and Where is Kyra? have the potential to be alienating, but if enough people are taken by one or the other (or, ideally, both), it could get her some awards traction.

What it sounds like the producer is saying for Where is Kyra? is they are not doing a qualifying release in 2017, but just releasing it in January 2018. It will be hard for a small film like this to be remembered months later when awards season starts, unless they do a full-on campaign, but even then, it will be difficult.

If that's the case, I know I won't be able to vote for it. Our final voting deadline at the Austin Film Critics Association is a few days after New Year's...most of the bigger critics groups are before that I believe. *sigh*

2018 probably makes sense, especially if mother! and MOTOE raise Michelle's profile. I just hope they got a call from Sony Pictures Classics or A24 or Roadside.

They never seem to do know what to do with any of their films which have female leads. In a World... and Hello, My Name is Doris were both Roadside releases that were indie gold and coulda gotten some serious awards attention had they been given proper care in terms of marketing and awareness

Really look forward to watch the film I'm sure I will like it a lot, hopefully it will be showing in some film festival here then I don't need to wait that long.

Kind regards Paul Howell - Great Point Media" Was this a public comment? Is there a link to it that you can post for us? From that comment, it sounds like perhaps they won't be releasing it overseas? I'm starting to wonder if they made a mistake debuting this at Sundance and not waiting for the Fall festivals.

I hope official word comes out soon, whatever the date is. It'll be interesting to see how many theaters they open it in. Probably pretty small to start.
