Michelle and Chloe have already shared the screen in Dark Shadows and were also attached for Man Under, a great project that unfortunately never happened

Sessa is one of the "it" boys at the moment, so that's cool. I would prefer anyone other than Moretz, because she has already worked with her before and I'd like to see her with someone new and different.

The sounds more like high concept than a great film, but it could be fun if the writing, direction and cast rise above the familiar premise. "Described as both a love letter to moms and tonally a cross between Home for the Holidays and Planes, Trains and Automobiles, the story centers on a woman named Claire Clauster (Pfeiffer) who organizes a special Christmas outing, but her family forgets her in the shuffle."www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/chloe-grace-moretz-dominic-sessa-1235865762/

Nice to see Holdovers breakout star Sessa choosing a Michelle vehicle as one of his next starring roles. Chloe Moretz has never really excited me.

Yea, there’s usually a good mix of substance combined with the entertainment factor when it comes to Showalter’s films so I’m incredibly hopeful.
I’m also excited by the casting of Sessa. The Holdovers was my favorite film of last year and his work in it was just stunning. As far as Moretz goes, it’s not the casting I woulda preferred, but it’s whatever lol

I can't imagine this will be a terribly long shoot. If it starts filming end of next month it'll probably be filming until early-mid July. Plenty of time for Michelle to still commit to the Yellowstone spinoff by late summer.
Matthew McConaughey is getting ready to start shooting The Lost Bus with Paul Greengrass so they'd both probably be free to start shooting this unless we hear about any other projects.

I wonder if Showalter is audacious enough to wrap up post-production in time for a holiday 2024 release ha ha! Oh, probably not. I’m sure we won’t see this until November/December of 2025.
Meanwhile, I wonder when Sylvia’s Second Act is planning to go before the cameras. Maybe late summer?? Would be nice to have some official word on that one

productionlist.com/production/oh-what-fun/Production List saying shooting from May 6th. Not sure really how reliable they are and they are listing it as a series rather than a film. Tiffany Little Canfield and Bernie Telsey showing as Casting Directors. Both have worked together previously on some big productions. Going to guess Jim Frohna is going to be the DP on this as worked on Michael Showalter's latest film The Idea of You and just shot the pilot on Happy Face the latest TV show he just directed.

Henry Rose is doing a road trip event with stops in like 5 cities and the last city is NYC, I think May 2 or 4th. Michelle has been doing private fragrance tutorials (lol) at the SoCal stop recently. Not sure if she will go to all the cities, but I bet she will be in NYC and then go to Atlanta to begin filming. After listening to the audible short story, I don't see how the hell they'd be able to stretch this to even a limited series lol maybe that's just a typo?

The author/writer put on her stories that yesterday was her 1st day in Atlanta.
If this is starting production within the next few weeks, I think they could have it out for Christmas 2024 as can't imagine filming will take that long but I'm not holding my breath for a 2024 release.

True. Showalter is an economical filmmaker and tends to work at good speed, so it’s not out of the question. I’m going to a sceeening of his new film tonight. Hoping it’s of similar quality to his other films I’ve liked. If so, it should bode well for this one.

It shouldn't be a long shoot since Moretz is supposed to start filming another movie in July

Mehhhhh. I like him, but this supporting cast is, not that exciting lol. I tweeted a quote from Denis about Michelle that is funny, though. From a few years ago. He must be very happy he got this gig.

It’s definitely an eclectic group for sure. I’m glad none of them eclipses her tho in terms of star power and overall prestige. Is that bad to say? lol

It's not the most exciting cast but slightly more so than the French Exit cast. As well as Michelle we have an Oscar nominee and an Emmy nominee and a hot rising up and comer. Hopefully Michael will be able to get a great tune out this cast.

I've not read the novel and don't plan to. I'm guessing Felicity's character won't be part of the family and could be someone Michelle's character encounters once separated from her family?

Well, I can’t remember if she’s only got a daughter or a daughter-in-law as well. But maybe. I’m sure the script would have had to have been expanded beyond the initial story, which was so paltry.

Moretz has 24 MILLION FOLLOWERS on IG lol. WHY AND HOW??? Further proof that I am totally irrelevant and out of step with today's pop culture. Seems this is what drives casting, not acting chops, although I've not seen enough of her work to judge her talent. For now, putting my trust in the director to make some magic out of all this.

awardswatch.com/interview-michael-showalter-on-the-idea-of-you-his-comfort-zone-as-a-rom-com-director-and-finding-the-balance-between-drama-and-comedy/TS: I’ve been a fan of yours ever since I found Wet Hot American Summer and The State in high school. Your previous background with those obviously leans more toward sketch and absurdist comedy. Is there ever a way that you find yourself trying to incorporate or streamline some of those sensibilities into a movie like this? MS: I think this movie that I’m actually about to do, which is a holiday ensemble film, is the closest to that, where it’s very funny and it has kind of big comedic set pieces and it’s quite silly, but also has the heart and some of the more grounded emotional elements. So we’ll see how it works out. But of my films this is sort of the most forwardly comedic film that I’ve really done as a director. TS: Yeah, I’ve noticed that you really veer into drama more than comedy with your directing work. If they have a comedic aspect it’s really baked into the drama. So it’s just been interesting seeing your range in that regard, especially coming from your initial background. MS: Yeah, and sometimes I’ll go into it wanting it to be funnier and it literally just defaults to something less funny. I think maybe there’s this sadness and melancholy in me. It’s like the kind of music I listen to. I love sad music, melancholy music is the kind of music I love the most. So I wouldn’t be surprised if in some sense, you know, it’s like my wiring just goes towards something that’s a little bit more bittersweet and melancholy. But as I said, this thing I’m doing now has some big, silly comedic set pieces in it, so hopefully it’ll be kind of a hybrid of these two things you’re referring to.

Big comedic set pieces coming for our Michelle. Hopefully the writing and performances are top notch for this. Hope it’s not too over the top, but nice to see her do a comedy and that might be what drew her to this. Also, Pfeiffer is in Toronto http://instagram.com/p/C6b2-hUO7uU

I'm pleased it's been a success for her but god I'm kinda so over Henry Rose taking up so much of her time. Glad she is back to work soon on a new film. Hopefully she has the remainder of 2024 dedicated to her other career.
